Post Category - Arts + CultureArts + Culture

Saturday 9 November 5pm
(activities from 4pm)

Singapore Chinese Orchestra presents Young People’s Concert: Once Upon A Chinese Orchestra, a concert which uses storytelling to share the origins and evolution of Chinese Orchestra.

Traveling through time, the story begins when Moses Gay (SCO Assistant Conductor) starts playing a single instrument; the Sheng, Erhu, Pipa and Dizi, in front of a small crowd at an ancient Chinese Teahouse. Slowly, the story unfolds as a group of friends come together to play music. As the music evolves over time, Chinese Orchestra compositions start to incorporate complex rhythms and extended harmonies.

Prior to the concert, attendees will be able to visit seven different stations and try their hand at seven different types of Chinese musical instruments found in the Chinese Orchestra.  Collect a stamp at each station and upon completion, you will be able to design your very own badge.

Student Discount: Students can use the code SCO15STUDENT when booking to get a 15% discount on tickets.

The show is 60 minutes long and will be performed in English.
