Date Night at The White Rabbit, Celebrating 10 Years on Dempsey Hill

The White Rabbit in Dempsey is a date night restaurant to put on your radar

I’ve passed by The White Rabbit plenty of times but never made it inside. Well actually I did, but it was back in my university days, in my early 20s, when we often went in just for a drink since there was no way we could afford anything on the food menu. So every time I look at that white church building, it always brought back memories of those days.

The White Rabbit recently introduced a new menu that is meant to celebrate 10 years of the restaurant’s most beloved dishes and we had the privilege of indulging in these.

Vibes
Although we loved the food (more about that in the next section), The White Rabbit also deserves a mention for its beautiful building, formerly a chapel. The interiors feature high beams and stained glass windows, and as you walk out to their alfresco bar (called The Rabbit Hole!) you find yourself in a lush green garden, with a “tree tunnel” leading from here back to the carpark area. Magical and romantic!

Drinks
The White Rabbit boasts a curated selection of craft gins, garnished with herbs from their very own garden and mixed with a house-made tonic. Definitely a must try at The Rabbit Hole while waiting for your table!

Food
The highlight for the evening was an exclusive menu featuring a decade’s worth of the restaurant’s most beloved dishes, updated to reflect the shifting modern palate.

Our favourites were:

Salt-Baked Beetroot Medley: Did you know there is more than one type of beetroot? And not all are red, either! This salad is so delightful and had surprising bursts of flavour. What also stood out for me were the juiciest tomatoes I’d ever tasted in a restaurant in Singapore!

Rangers Valley Wagyu Carpaccio: One word – truffles! Fragrant enough to be detectable, yet not overwhelming. And the green apple bits added great texture and acidity to lift the dish!

Brandt Short Rib: We just have to highlight that this was cooked for 36 hours! And it was certainly worth all 36 hours. So tender and perfectly seasoned.

Crepes Suzette: How can we not enjoy the show of having these crepes flambeed right before our eyes? That alone whet our appetite and we immediately made room for it despite being stuffed from all the previous courses. Delicious!

The five-course celebratory menu will be available at $108 per pax for the months of September and October.
