With kid-friendly hours (perfect for early risers) and a delicious range of sweet and savoury options, Monti’s new family brunch menu lives up to its stupendous setting

Say the word “brunch” to me (or my waffle-loving 4-year-old) and you can bet we’ll be there faster than you can down a glass of free-flow mimosa. When I heard about the new Family Brunch at Monti, in the space that formerly housed Catalunya at Fullerton’s 1-Pavilion, I was super keen to check it out. Here are the features that appealed to me right off the bat:

key dishes on the monti family brunch menu
Key dishes on the Monti brunch menu: “The Big Breakfast”, Seafood Pizza and Sausage Ragout
  • All-day dining: The extensive brunch menu is served from 9:30am all the way til 5pm (with additional savoury dishes coming online at 11:30am).
  • A separate kids’ menu features both breakfast classics like scrambled eggs and Fried chicken with waffles, and perennial kid-pleasers like pizza and pasta.

  • Kids’ activities: While plenty of hotel free-flow buffets offer dedicated kids’ rooms and activities, I haven’t seen them too often at regular restaurants. At Monti there’s an enclosed play area with a teepee, easels for drawing, and building blocks. There are also pasta cooking demos for kids on the first weekend of every month – Maggie loved making her own star-shaped pasta.
  • Stupendous views: Some of my favourite restaurants are in shopping malls, but every now and then it’s wonderful to dine with a view, and Monti’s panorama of Marina Bay Sands is hard to beat.

Priced at $12 apiece, the kids’ portions are pretty big. Maggie received a full Belgian waffle – perfectly cooked with a golden crispiness – that was topped with four tender hunks of juicy fried chicken.

I went for the French Toast with a Cornflakes crust ($14) and basically devoured it, while my husband opted for Monti’s Breakfast Burger ($25), a Wagyu beef patty topped with mozzarella cheese, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion and a sunny side up egg (which I think is where it gets its name from).

We also ordered the zingy Kale Salad ($16) topped with juicy ikura and it just might have been my favorite thing that we tasted although, just to be clear, we finished every last bite on the table.

I really like that the menu offers a wide variety of both sweet and savoury options, including three different waffle dishes, Salmon Eggs Benedict, house-made pastas, and a seafood bowl. To be honest my only complaint was that two different juices I ordered from the yummy-looking fresh juice menu were both unavailable.

So next time you have guests in town and want to show off our stunning city without sacrificing for taste, add Monti to the rotation, mama.

Monti’s all-day weekend brunch is served Saturdays and Sunday from 9:30am to 5pm, with pasta cooking demos for kids on the first weekend of each month. Click here to book!
