Get ready to get your shop on, mamas! Chatuchak Market – the biggest weekend market in the world – is coming to Singapore at Turf City
If you’ve read our guide to Bangkok with Kids, you’ll know that Chatuchak Market is one of our very favorite places to visit in BKK. With over 15,000 stalls, it’s actually the largest weekend market in the world! Sure you can find all manner of souvenirs, but also clothing, art, delicious food and so, so, sooo much more.
So it’s a pretty big deal, mamas, that Chatuchak will be opening its first night market outside Thailand right here in Singapore! Open from February through May 2020, Singapore’s Chatuchak Market will be located at Turf City in Bukit Timah.
Sadly they won’t be transporting all 15,000 stalls at once BUT, there will be a rotating weekly slate of 1,000 Thai vendors selling handicrafts, fashion, home décor, antiques, and all sorts of other unique goods from Thailand. Look for there to be more than 200 stalls open at any one time.
There’ll also be plenty of authentic Thai food & drinks stalls (who’s ready for some mango sticky rice?), along with a Thai-style Chang Beer Garden offering up to 400 seats for visitors to chillax and take in the atmosphere. There’s even going to be free parking (or convenient free shuttles if you’re partaking in the aforementioned beer garden).
Really the only downside to this is that Chatuchak Market won’t be open in time for Christmas gift shopping (though there are plenty of other wonderful local markets to hit up in the meantime!), but it will potentially save you airfare to Bangkok!
