“Don’t touch the art!” is something we often hear, but at the Light to Night Festival, a highlight is the interactive (and Instagrammable) artworks where audiences can become part of the work. That said, members of the public flock to this highly anticipated annual event for its large-scale projection mappings, illuminated art installations and public programmes that pay homage to the arts!

Light to Night is organised by National Gallery Singapore, and has collaborations with the Asian Civilisations Museum, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, The Arts House, Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall and CapitaLand. Admission to the Light to Night Festival is free with ticketed programmes available.

One of our all-time favourites at the Light to Night Festival is ‘Art Skins on Monuments’ — the biggest facade light show in Singapore! Look out for spectacular light projections created by various artists on the façades of cultural institutions around the Civic District.

Light to Night Festival 2026 spotlights its new SANTAI series. Meaning “to relax” in Malay, SANTAI comprises a series of locally inspired artworks at five key gathering points around the Civic District. The Padang is where much of the action continues to take place this year.

Look out for a three-part installation called ‘Rumah Laut’ (also seen at ACM Green), which is inspired by Singapore’s early coastal and island communities. The artworks are created by local artist Firdaus Sani who’s a fourth generation Orang Laut and Pulau descendant. The installation comprises a circle of tapestry, which is meant to promote calmness. We can attest that the ‘Rumah Laut’ installations are great spots to chill and be in the moment, paired with great views.

There’s also the picturesque ‘Gathering on the Lawn’. These comprise batik-inspired paper lantern bags all over the Padang. Visitors are encouraged to take them home, bringing the experience with them even after they leave the venue. The artist, Michael Lin from Taiwan, has also set up an installation at the National Gallery’s Singapore Courtyard, featuring hand-painted wooden furniture pieces. You’re encouraged to sit on and move the furniture. Plus, there are some cool free arts and crafts activities you can do here–even the kids will love it!
