Is your little one feeling overwhelmed at a bigger preschool?

Little Tykes @ IIS shares the advantages of smaller preschool class sizes

Arguably one of the biggest fears for parents is that their toddlers will react badly to a new situation like starting school, right mama? And understandably so — after spending the first few years of life in the comfortable, cosy confines of home, school is a whole new environment, and not every child will have the confidence to integrate into a big class! At Little Tykes, class sizes are kept small so teachers can quickly understand each student’s learning style and interests.

Located in the bright and airy boutique campus of The Integrated International School (IIS) in Clementi, Little Tykes provides Reggio Emilia-inspired learning through teaching a personalised thematic, multi-sensorial approach. Using art, play, music, dance, drama and environmental exploration, their motto “Play Matters!” lets kids be kids while having more one-on-one interactions with their teachers and creating strong bonds among classmates.

Their classes also have a low teacher to student ratio (1:4), allowing for more hands-on learning and sensorial activities that often require more attention. This way, teachers can focus more on teaching rather than supervising behaviour. We also love that the flexible lesson plans allow teachers to think outside the box and get inspired through the little ones – now that’s child-led learning!

Little Tykes aims to be more than just a school for your bub, mama. You can see it as a home away from home with the way they emphasise close community relationships, offering more individual teacher and student interaction. Daily communication is believed to be important to allow mamas and dads to be directly involved with their child’s progress.

The child-led approach at Little Tykes establishes a strong sense of self-esteem, social skills and learning skills in every student so they’ll be better prepared to carry on into the next stage of ‘big’ school!
