From house tours to slime and craft workshops, Holland Village will be ground zero for art, style, play and design this March
Holland Village is the place to be during Singapore Design Week 2018, mamas. This year marks the debut of a new annual event called District- Design- Dialogue (running from 10-18 March), which will feature a super cool art and design takeover of 10 terrace houses in Chip Bee Gardens.
Each house will be themed and will host a mixture of workshops, installations, pop-up shops and experiences, all tied to everything art & design. And it’s not just for real-estate loving mamas keen to peek into terrace houses; there will be heaps of kid-friendly features as well!
With everything from a street party, to a drop-off “playground” house, to a to a cookie tasting, there will be serious fun on offer for the whole fam. Check out our gallery for our top 10 picks!

Enjoy a cast of creatives, makers, street food and pumping tunes. With food, drinks and DJs provided by W Singapore, fams can look forward to a lively carnival atmosphere. And while you’re touring around make sure to hit up ves.ceramics (75 Jln Kelabu Asap) for pottery workshops in their backyard.

Sassy Mama party planning faves The Party Elves have created an absolute wonderland for kiddos: you and your child will be amazed when you enter The Playground through an actual string maze. Then let your imaginations run wild in a “Fishes in the Reef” interactive craft installation and a Band of Doodlers mural wall. If you love crafting and being creative you will want to stay and indulge in the colouring and embroidery workshops for parent and child by Inez Designs.

Make sure to pay a visit to the Rainbow Room, where kids can paint their hearts out in a freestyle room art bomb. Paint with a sponge, balloon paint bombs or even a broom! Afterwards make sure you sign up for the sticky & fun slime making workshop by Art@home. Yes please.

Stop by The Playground with the kids to enjoy a house dedicated to nurturing young and curious minds through play and design. Make a new friend at the cool Robot Petting Zoo, or join a workshop to build your own Pet Robot Hummingbird. You can even sign up to paint in 3D using Oculus Rift. The future is now.

Food heroes from all over the island will come together in one gastronomic location. There will be loads of food-themed workshops and a series of pop-up private dinners. Sign up early to enjoy workshops in tea appreciation and cookie and wine tasting. Haagen-Dazs will even be there exhibiting a cherry blossom garden installation. Now that is sweet.

Make sure to stop in at The Library: the house dedicated to prose, print and design. If you love a great selection of art and design books, the pop up retail shop by Basheer Graphic Books is not to be missed. It’s all been curated by the novelist and Writer in Residence Daryl Yam. Also look out for a yummy food pop-up from Woodlands Sourdough and Cata Coffee!

The Stage is the place to be if you like to boogie and enjoy a sonic space dedicated to homegrown music. There will be cool sound art installations and digital art shows and you can even give DJing a go with a DJ workshop conducted by POP Studio DJ. Make sure to stop by and get in the groove.

This house will feature fashion installations and pop up shops that will showcase a curated selection of the best homegrown brands to know in 2018 and beyond. There will be craft-making workshops and you might even get a chance to peek into a hatmaker’s (Heads of State Millinery) working atelier.

Take a break and recharge in The Lounge, a house dedicated to better living that will feature wellness activities and offer lifestyle design wares by homegrown brands. There will be plenty of workshops to explore fitness, design and lifestyle. Living well is also about release. Skip the shrink and get a spot of anger therapy in the pop up Rage Room. Intrigued? We know we are.

Step into the wonderful world of EYEYAH! — a T-shirt exhibition for kids. Explore this walk-in wardrobe of hyper-colour imagery from over 30 international artists. Curated by Steve Lawler & Tanya Wilson (formerly of Kult Magazine) this showcase launches their new publication EYEYAH!, designed to raise awareness of the dangers of the internet. This house is not to be missed.
