Whether your little one wants to go full princess, or needs gentle, high-quality products for a performance, homegrown kids’ makeup brand C’est Moi is fab, mamas!

When my little girl was a toddler, I tried so hard to steer her away from the mainstream “girly stuff”. I’m very girly myself, and don’t get me wrong, I see absolutely nothing wrong with being girly. But I didn’t want her to be pressured into being that way because the world says girls like princesses and boys play like superheros. I tried to dress her in Superman t-shirts and sent her to soccer school, amongst other things.

I failed – miserably. She’s a total princess addict and loves EVERYTHING to do with dressing up. She has a huge collection of Disney princess dresses – so many that they don’t all fit in the little closet in my little apartment. So we have to keep most of them at my mom’s. All the better because there are stairs at grandma’s house, so this means she can dress up, then elegantly walk down the stairs while all of us gasp and pretend our jaws drop when she slowly – with her chin up, almost haughty – makes her entrance into the dining room.

Eventually she started asking for makeup to complete the look, and various family members gifted her with things like an Elsa Makeup Set from a toy store. She had a blast playing with them and smearing her face messily, but I was never comfortable with the quality of the products. She’s smeared them on my face many times and they’ve felt so greasy, and are often so hard to remove. I comforted myself telling myself that this doesn’t happen every day so we’ll just wash it off quickly so it wouldn’t harm her skin too much.

So when I first came across C’est Moi makeup products, I was delighted! I first discovered them when I was shopping at Hamleys for a Christmas Gift for her last year. It was an entire makeup counter, just like the ones you’d see at Sephora, except it was for kids! This was amazing! I couldn’t wait to try it out, so I bought my daughter a set for her birthday this year. It was a hit! And best of all, it’s completely safe for her skin.

I did a little reading up about the brand and discovered that it was started by a Singaporean – a homegrown brand! I was even more intrigued. Better yet, it was started by a mom, Jessica Tang, who’s 5-year-old daughter’s skin would break out in rashes after putting on adult makeup for a ballet performance. After three years of thorough research, she launched C’est Moi, a very welcome product that would put an end to us buying low-quality play-cosmetics for our kids to play with, or to perform in!

Want to get your hands on some of their products? Have a look at their website. Or go down to any of their participating stores: Hamleys (MBS and Plaza Singapura), Metro Centrepoint, Isetan Scotts and Parkway.
