Mums and Dads are invited to our first FREE parenting workshop of 2017: why encouraging creativity in our little ones is so vital for them to thrive!

As much as we love this parenting gig, man is it tough sometimes! Here at Sassy Mama, we always want to be a handy resource for mamas (and papas) as they make their way down the thrilling, bumpy road that is parenting, which is why we’ll be offering a new series of Parenting Workshops with tools and expert advice on how to be the best parents we can be.

Our first workshop, ‘The Importance of Working Creatively with Children’, will be offered at the fab Centre Stage School of the Arts, with a focus on the necessity of bringing creativity into the lives of young people, particularly in the precious early years.

We’ll be offering the workshop at two separate dates and times to ensure we can accommodate working parents. The first workshop will be held on the evening of Wednesday, 17 May from 6:30-8pm; this is an adults-only event, while the second will take place on the morning of Friday, 19 May from 9:30-11am and will include a taster drama session just for kiddos ages 3 and up while parents attend the workshop! (Under-3s are welcome, too; we’ll have a separate supervised play area with toys and cushions set up for them near their parents).

In this uncertain and ever-changing world, it makes perfect sense to equip our children with the vital skills that grow from creativity: confidence, self-worth, empathy and problem-solving chief amongst them! The engaging 90-minute talk will examine how creativity fits in alongside literacy and the importance of play; indeed, in the words of Philip Jeyaretnam, creativity isn’t just an optional extra, but a key to personal growth and development, not to mention understanding society and the world.

Centre Stage School of the Arts was founded back in 1999 on the very same principle – creativity in children is important and the performing arts are valuable to all – and provides quality ongoing classes and workshops for children and adults from 6 months of age onwards! It’s the only Drama UK-supported school in Singapore, with two locations (on Portsdown Road opposite Tanglin Trust, and on the East Coast) along with programmes offered at various schools and condos across Singapore.

In addition to this interesting and engaging session, we’ll also be providing yummy eats from Little House of Dreams, and our friends at Littleones Photography will be there to capture all the fun.

To attend this fabulous FREE session, just enter your deets in the form below, mama! Spaces are limited so be sure to RSVP at your earliest convenience. We look forward to seeing you there, and adding a bit more creativity to all our lives!
