With classes that excite, challenge and engage young minds, Singapore American School’s Summer Semester gives students the ultimate freedom to explore their interests in-depth and at their own speed. And these learning opportunities are available from preschool all the way up through 12^th grade! 

“If there’s something you’re interested in, you’ll be able to do it every day. For an hour and a half!” enthuses SAS Middle School Teacher Kris Munden.

Focused on three distinct areas – intellectual curiosity, creative expression, and wellness – summer semester stimulates young minds by engaging in challenging academic courses and projects, bringing inner artists to life, and maximizing the body through physical activities and sports.

“[Last summer] was cool because I got to learn about my favorite things – and learn another language,” says 6-year-old Trinity. “We also got to do PE and Art every day. My favorite things were making dumplings and going on a field trip.”

Trinity participated in SAS’s innovative, multi-age Chinese Bilingual Program, which combines learning a language with each student’s personal passions, making for a fun and immersive experience offered at both novice and intermediate levels.

From making dumplings, to creating a Father’s Day video to doing an in-depth project on ponies (really!), students are immersed in Mandarin in a fun and accessible way – exploring it through their individual interests.

“My son did the Novice program last summer and had a great time,” says mama Sudha Nishtala. “Although the class had children from Kindergarten through 2^nd grade in one group, he enjoyed it thorougly, as it was devised in such a manner that it kept kids of all ages engaged and engrossed.”

With a low teacher-student ratio of 1:10, Summer Semester partners with world leaders in a variety of fields to offer innovative programs not available anywhere else in Singapore. Students will benefit from programs designed exclusively for SAS Summer Semester from the likes of Columbia University Business School, Stanford University in association with V-Campus, and more.

Whether your preschooler wants to explore a topic that interests them (everything from dinosaurs to why the sun shines in the sky) or your high schooler wants to earn extra credit through a full slate of math, science and writing classes, SAS Summer Semester will provide students the flexibility to discover and explore their passions!
