As your child embarks on the pivotal years of secondary school, getting access to robust resources and guidance becomes key for their successful journey towards university.

That’s where CIS’s university advisors come in, a team of caring professionals—Dr. Aaron Mayo, Alex Ross, Christopher Joslin, and Rachel Duce. Beyond finding the best fit university for students; they are here to inspire, guide, support, listen, and take action, helping students, families, and the wider school community navigate university admissions. Their focus? Your child’s future.

You’re invited to meet these professionals at the CIS Meet the Team fair on 8 March (more deets below).

What does a university advisor do?

CIS University Advisors Can Help your Child Get Into the Best University for Them

Every day is different for university advisors. They could be running a workshop for grade 12s on ‘How to apply to Australian Universities’, or working with grade 10s on how to select their IB subjects and how it fits into their larger university goals and life aspirations.

CIS university advisors go the extra mile by engaging parents in one-on-one conferences to discuss their child’s options. They also actively establish connections with university admissions departments worldwide, building positive relationships and staying ahead of any updates on the application processes, graduation requirements or programmes offered.

During peak application season, university advisors review and offer feedback on students’ personal statements, college essays, or letters of motivation. On top of that, they dedicate time to crafting counsellor recommendation letters and assembling the necessary supporting documents for students’ applications.

Hear from a CIS Grade 12 student:
My university advisor has added value to my learning journey by being attentive and supportive. Mr Ross has encouraged me to look for a university that is not only academically reputable but also has an environment which is compatible with my hobbies, interests, and the type of person I am outside of class. Thus far I have received conditional offers from IE, King’s College and Tilburg university.” — Lucas O.

With the help of the university advisory team, CIS students have gone far in their post-secondary learning journeys. Since 2011, CIS has witnessed their students receiving acceptance into over 470 different universities globally including University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University of California Berkeley, University of Melbourne and University of Toronto.
