When you shop, are you making a conscious choice to shop from women-led small and medium-sized businesses? Amazon Singapore makes it easy with their new dedicated International Women’s Day storefront!
Women-led small businesses are the bomb! We would know, because Sassy Mama Singapore is female-founded and entirely female-run! Often, women-led businesses create products with women in mind and they create job opportunities for other women, which is an incredible way to give back to the community and continue the cycle of women empowerment.
Check out Amazon Singapore as they shine a spotlight on homegrown small and medium-sized women-led businesses with their new dedicated International Women’s Day storefront! Read on as we profile three female businesses owners who share how selling their products on Amazon.sg has helped their brands to grow and expand in huge ways. Mamapreneurs, this one’s for you!
This uber successful homegrown baby and maternity brand was founded by Yvon Bock, who aims to support working mums and positively impact their breastfeeding journey. In 2016, Hegen began selling on Amazon.com and has since expanded to Amazon.uk and Amazon.sg after finding success in the US market – now Hegen reaches mamas around the world!
Sassy Mama review: We’ve always been keen on trying Hegen – thanks to its aesthetically pleasing iconic pastel colours and how easy it seems to assemble their milk bottles – so we were stoked to receive this! Hegen sent us their Hegen PCTO™ Express Store Feed Starter Kit + Drinking Bottle Set which allows us to Express-Store-Feed within a single container – so no messy, wasteful transfer of milk here. After the newborn phase, these bottles can continue to be put to good use as food storage containers or for on-the-go snacking!
Founded by Beth Candice Wu, HoneySpree is a social enterprise specialising in customisable mini honey jars for events of all sizes. The company employs stay-at-home moms (SAHMs) to ease their financial burden, giving back 30 cents to their network of SAHMs for every mini honey jar sold. To keep operational costs low and focus on growing her business, Beth decided to sell online and turned to Amazon.
Sassy Mama review: We don’t know about you, but customised gifts always set our hearts aflutter and the box of personalised honey jars that we got from HoneySpree was a winner! It features a set of honey jars with every Sassy Mama’s faces on them, together with the HoneySpree Sweet Tea Gift Set which includes a lovely rose gold tea set and a tin of Sweet Peach Tea – fab as a special hen’s night box to surprise bridesmaids with, or as wedding favours for an intimate reception we think! Get yours at 30% off from now until the end of the month!
Founder Pauline Ng was inspired by her mother’s passion for helping others achieve healthy skin and decided to turn her family knowledge into a full-time skincare business. After providing premium facial services and skincare products to women in Singapore since 2009, Porcelain recently began selling on Amazon.sg to extend its reach online.
Sassy Mama review: Porcelain has been in the skincare game for decades, so we know we can trust them with what we put on our face. The brand specially curated a few products specific to our skin concerns and not only is the packaging super luxe, but the products actually work (NB: Particularly for my dehydrated skin! -Syazana, Editor). Their entire range will have you covered on the skincare front for both day and night. We’re particularly excited about the Hydro Cleanser (free from harsh sulphates and rich in powerful antioxidants) and HA+ Hydrating Serum (hyaluronic acid should be your best friend for moisturised skin, if it isn’t already!).
Other women-led small brands featured on Amazon.sg’s International Women’s Day store include local wine company Wine With Us, socially responsible second-generation jewellery business Boma Jewellery and party decor providers Glittery Garden.
