Can’t quite find a store with the clothes you want mamas? Here are our top 10 online maternity stores that will ship straight to your doorstep
Pregnancy can be tough for a lot of reasons (we know!), but feeling like you’re dressed as a tent-wearing bag lady should not be one of them.
It can sometimes be hard finding affordable, stylish maternity clothes in Singapore – particularly if you’re not on the petite side. There’s also the issue of the heat; we all love maxi dresses but sometimes crave just a bit more tailoring.
Maternity clothes can undoubtedly be expensive, but over two pregnancies I’ve found that the clothes that I liked the most and that felt good in, got a lot of outings. The price-per-wear ratio actually ends up ok, as the better quality fabrics tended to go the distance in a way some thriftier buys might not.
Here are my top 10 suggestions for online maternity stores that ship to Singapore:
A Pea in the Pod / Destination Maternity / Motherhood Maternity
These three U.S. mega-brands have recently started shipping to Singapore, hallelujah! High-end A Pea in the Pod is super on-trend and features stylish seasonal collections; Motherhood Maternity offers cute basics with a focus on their nursing wear line, and Destination Maternity is a superstore with everything from designer clothes (Rachel Zoe, Isabella Oliver, Seraphine and more) to skincare, fitness and nutrition products.
Asos items can be a bit hit-and-miss in their quality, but their maternity section also includes other brands like Mamalicious and Isabella Oliver. Their regular section stocks quite a few dresses that could easily be worn during pregnancy. My fave? Anything with swing dress in the title!
While often lauded by working mums for their versatile work-wear options, I avoided Isabella Oliver during my first pregnancy due to my clingy fabric phobia. After seeing some of their designs in the flesh however, I have to admit to being won round! Their range of practical, yet stylish maternity wear is perfect for the office or maybe even a playdate!
Certain Sassy Mama staffers swear they lived in the Minnie Maternity Pant, while J.Crew‘s legendarily soft tees come in a veritable rainbow of colours (and the v-necks are perfect for easy breastfeeding, too).
Run by mumpreneurs, Sara (from London) and Helen (from Hong Kong), Madderson has some beautiful pieces with very flattering silhouettes in luxurious but wearable fabrics. I’ve invested in the Darcey dress as an attractive work option but think their cool chevron prints would be perfect for relaxed Singapore weekends.
This Hong Kong-based site (and shop!) may pride themselves on carrying “more than maternity”, but they’ve got a super-stylish range of dresses, tops, jeans, shorts and more that will suit the most discerning fashion-forward mama-to-be. Bonus points for a huge selection of nursing wear, and did we mention Mayarya ships free to Singapore?!
A nice choice for extremely reasonably priced maternity basics (including underwear), Next also has free, reliable and quick delivery to Singapore (like, have-your-clothes-within-four-days quick!).
A celeb favourite (every other dress on their website seems to say “Worn by the Duchess of Cambridge”), Seraphine do a brisk business in flattering, stylish dresses of varying colours and prints. Love their dedicated collection of maternity eveningwear (why should you have to wear a mumu to a wedding just because you’re pregnant?), with a nice range of nursing tops, dresses and bras as well.
These guys stock a great selection of maternity designer jeans — if only a Singapore-based pregnancy didn’t make me want to live in a swimming pool or keep my head in the freezer, I’d be all set! Shopbop does have some versatile jersey wear though, as well as some nice items from Hatch. These guys get first prize for quick and easy delivery.
