Whether you’re a first-time mum or a pro in the delivery room, these prenatal (also called antenatal) classes can help you prepare for a positive birthing experience
When you find out you’re pregnant, millions of questions run through your mind, especially if you’re a newbie. What food can I eat? How much weight am I supposed to gain? The list goes on! Knowing what to expect when you’re expecting is essential for any new mama and papa, whether it be at the beginning or end of the journey. It might be weird going back into a classroom setting, but don’t fall asleep during these prenatal classes in Singapore because there are lots of new things to learn! Plus as antenatal classes are often designed to group you with others giving birth around the same time – they are often the best way to meet new mama friends with babies the same age!

Mother and Child
Celebrating their 25th year of supporting expectant and new parents in Singapore, Mother & Child’s popular antenatal Childbirth Preparation course is skilfully designed with practical information to prepare you before the birth of your baby. Over the course of four 2.5-hour classes, their highly experienced Midwives and Childbirth educators will impart their wisdom on topics including labour, birth, feeding, and newborn care, ensuring parents-to-be feel comfortable and confident in their birth process. Classes are relaxed, interactive, and limited in size to provide plenty of personal attention. As a bonus, Mother & Child’s prenatal packages also include complimentary services, special discounts, and a very useful Active Birth class to help prepare your body for labour. You will come out of the prenatal course feeling confident about making informed choices about the kind of birth experience you want – plus you’ll have a new built-in network of parent friends! Mother & Child suggests that you start your first session around your 30th week of pregnancy, and complete the course about a month before your expected delivery date. They offer a hypnobirthing class, too!

But what makes Beloved Bumps so popular, is the social activities that help you build meaningful friendships with other couples on the same journey. Included in the prenatal classes are a class WhatsApp group, date night dinner, and a ladies lunch. Read the Google reviews from their most recent couples! As well as their prenatal classes there are a range of class options for both pre and postnatal, which means you’ll have a support network at each stage of your parenting journey!
Blooming Births
Blooming Births’ signature Childbirth with Love antenatal class is evidence-based, taking an unconventional approach towards childbirth preparation. Led by trauma-informed Doula, Childbirth Educator, Parent Coach and Somatic Practitioner Chantel Kismet, this comprehensive two-day workshop covers preparatory knowledge for labour, birth and postpartum care. What’s unique about the workshop is that Chantel supports couples to identify their triggers and create a self-guided toolkit to navigate challenges faced in their parenting journey and deepen couple communication. She provides deeper insights into partner support, birth advocacy, medical inductions, feeding, sleep, respectful caregiving and newborn care. Chantel incorporates mindfulness and somatics into her workshops. Couples who have attended the workshop loved the hands-on interactive activities and step-by-step strategies as they found them easy to apply and practice. They also expressed appreciation for Chantel’s comprehensive knowledge and for weaving it into a local context, understanding the birthing system better. Blooming Births offers other workshops focusing on VBAC preparation, twins/multiple preparation, second-time parents or more, breastfeeding, sibling integration, parenting and couple connection. Sessions are available both in-person and virtually. Sign up for the next one happening 25-26 February 2023!
