Supermom and EstheClinic founder Manon talks work-life balance and beauty secrets, all with 2 young kids in tow

We all know Parisian beauty collective EstheClinic as the go-to for all our aesthetic treatment needs, whether it’s permanent hair removal, zapping away unwanted cellulite or even getting a facelift. But did you know that it’s helmed by mamapreneur Manon Allano? Together with her husband, Bastien Allano, this supermom took over the business from her father, Dr Gerard Boutboul (who established the brand in France over 20 years ago), and led EstheClinic into a major expansion into Asia. Now, EstheClinic can be found in three locations across Singapore, serving thousands of happy customers in Tanjong Pagar, Rochester and Joo Chiat (us Sassy Mamas included!).

Raised in an environment that focused on genuine dedication to innovative beauty treatments, Manon inherited her father’s passion for innovation and aesthetics – making her a force in the local beauty industry! We spoke to this mama of two about all things beauty, how she manages working alongside her husband, and what else is in store for EstheClinic.

Tell us a little about yourself and your family

I will turn 33 soon and have two adorable daughters, 2-year-old Charlie, and Raphaelle, who is just 2 months old. I studied business and, upon my graduation, joined EstheClinic family-run company. My husband is an engineer who has recently graduated to become an airline pilot, but before that he set up EstheClinic in Singapore with me. We love spending time with our daughters and with friends and family. Travelling is also part of our life as we like to discover new countries and meet people from other cultures.

What do you love about living in Singapore?

Singapore is a great city to live. I love the contrast between the old town with nice shophouses (the shophouses that I’m so fond of for my clinics!), and the huge new condo buildings, with a lot of greenery in between. I love running from the stadium to the marina at the end of the day, when lights are switching on; the view is just stunning!

Singapore is also an interesting place to set up a business as the government is helpful with entrepreneurs to succeed.

How do you juggle your time between work and family?

That’s not easy to do as my husband and my father are in the business with me! So EstheClinic is often part of family dinners, lol! I have the chance to own my own business so I can arrange my time as I want. I try my best to spend time with my daughters in the mornings and evenings, and I slot my working hours in between. I’m lucky to have this flexibility and the possibility to watch my babies grow up. On the other hand, it’s quite hard to disconnect from my job.

What are your top beauty tips for busy mamas?

The main advice for healthy skin is to hydrate it and keep it safe from the sun, especially when living in Singapore! It’s also good to keep the skin properly moisturized. On top of that, I recommend preventing signs of aging by doing beauty treatments like radiofrequency for skin tightening, LED for skin radiance or IPL for skin rejuvenation. Using a microneedle device like Le Dermabooster is also very helpful to stimulate the skin by increasing collagen production.

If you want to stay in shape and feel good, having a healthy diet and exercising regularly are also a must! Body shaping treatments can be done to target stubborn fat or remove unsightly cellulite or stretch marks.

How is it working alongside your husband? How do you manage to not kill each other?

Ahah! It was great to set up the business together and see the evolution and success of the brand. We have been able to work alongside each other because we have our own specific skills and knowledge, so we do a good job with division of labor and tasks. We were not stepping on each other’s toes, and that’s been the key to keeping a positive vibe in the household! My husband is now working as an airline pilot, so we are not working together daily anymore (I still need him for some tasks to run the business), and we have now found the perfect balance!

We love the chic, minimalist styling of EstheClinic’s salons. Are you into a similar style for home decor?

Not at all actually! As I work daily in this minimalist black and white environment, I like to have colors and light wood furniture at my place! Of course, my daughters’ rooms are fully pink, hehe.

What’s your favourite EstheClinic treatment?

I have done IPL hair removal, and this has changed my life! I’m just doing some maintenance sessions here and there when needed. Otherwise, I really love the combination of radiofrequency and LED treatments to keep my skin firm and radiant and to get rid of unwanted blemishes. For my post-partum body, my miracle cure is EstheCryo fat freezing treatment! It’s very easy to do, and 2 or 3 sessions can offer very good and visible results and it’s not painful at all! And its very effective for areas like the tummy or love handles that suffer from my 2 closely-spaced pregnancies.

What EstheClinic treatment would you recommend to someone who’s keen to try their first laser treatment?

EstheClinic’s Glow To Go IPL Skin Rejuvenation Treatment! The treatment uses cutting-edge MacPeel technology to instantly rejuvenate and revitalise your skin, restoring youthful radiance with zero pain. Not only does it work on the deeper dermis layer of the skin to boost collagen production, but it also reduces uneven pigmentation on the skin’s surface – giving a more even-toned, radiant glow and smoother skin instantly.

What’s your next move for EstheClinic Singapore?

We have many plans in mind! We would definitely like to open a 4th branch in Singapore to extend our brand to more people across the island. We are currently looking for a unit but it’s not an easy step as we want the perfect place!

I can now also share latest news…. EstheClinic will expand to Hong Kong by July/August 2019! This new branch will remain in the family as my cousin and his girlfriend will be leading the expansion over there. We can’t wait to celebrate the opening with them and will definitely keep Sassy Mama Hong Kong readers informed about the news!

Thank you for chatting with us Manon!
