Contrary to popular belief, technology is for everyone, regardless of age! Mark your calendars for 28 & 29 November as Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA)’s SG: Digital Wonderland returns this year in a special edition packed with cool interactive activities that the whole family can enjoy from the comfort of home. Adults and kids alike can discover cool new gadgets, experience VR, eSports, and 360 films, and innovate with tech and coding workshops together. The event will be entirely free, with live-streaming activities, workshops and prizes to be won – keep scrolling for all the details!

Learn the art of digital parenting with the Media Literacy Council (MLC) and join these useful webinars featuring industry experts from TikTok and LEGO!

A Tikin’ Good Time: Social Media as a Family Affair
Saturday, 28 November 2020, 2pm – 3pm

As social media usage rises during these times, new trends have emerged and platforms like TikTok have seen their popularity exponentially increase, especially among teens! Singapore TikTok stars @mingweirocks and his father @daddyming (17 million followers combined!), will be sharing their experience with bonding as a family through the use of short-form video content. They will be joined by TikTok and MLC representatives, who will talk about the best practices to engage children on digital literacy topics, as well as ensuring the responsible and safe usage of social media.

Build Them Up! Teach Children Digital Literacy Through Play
Saturday, 28 November 2020, 4pm – 5pm

Join the Head of Digital Safety at the LEGO Group, who will share his insights on the importance of parent-children engagement, practical tips, and activities for parents and educators to engage children on digital literacy and safety topics through play-based techniques. He will be joined by MLC member and Singapore University of Technology and Design professor Prof Lim Sun Sun, who will be providing insights into how technology has changed digital literacy habits, and the importance of understanding online risks and how to navigate them in a safe manner.

Catch Benzo and Chrysan from hit YouTube channel Wah!Banana on Shopee Live on 28 November, 6pm as they show how smart living and lifestyle devices can help us in our everyday lives. Experience: eSports, VR and 360 videos & More

Always wanted to watch an eSports match or have a kiddo who’s quite the digital ‘athlete’? Find out how you can get involved with a panel discussion on ‘Parenting in eSports: What You Need to Know’. There will also be the chance to catch exclusive VR and 360 films (each household will receive two VR Cardboard headsets for free! Limited availability. VR Watch Party Schedule here).

There’s also a fun VR experience to check out during the festival. Life in Northern Ghana is an immersive experience of Northern Ghana and its people, sights, sounds, and food, with a special focus on the Damba Festival, an ancient festival that originated in the 18th century, being celebrated after a 17-year break. Bajau Sea – The Last Sea Wanderers eco-activist and adventurer Nadine Chandrawinata embarks on a journey of discovery to learn how one of the world’s last sea gypsy tribes still survives despite the pressures of the modern world.

Innovate: Free Emerging Tech Workshops for Kids

The ‘Innovate’ section of SG: Digital Wonderland is what we’re excited about! Register your kiddos for some fun (and FREE!) coding and digital making workshops to learn about emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Immersive Media!

Emerging Tech Workshops

Give your kids age 7 to 12 years old the chance to be creative and build their own Virtual Reality world with Coding Lab and Kodecoon, or dive into the world of AI with Minecraft thanks to the instructors at Zenitant! Make sure to check out the parent-child workshops too, to program a board computer, create interactive experiences with the AR Makr app or build a mobile app to control a virtual home automation Internet of Things device.

Digital Storytelling Workshop & Contest

Kickstart your digital storytelling journey with the experts from NasAcademy and take part in the first “Making a Millionaire Creator” contest to stand a chance to win attractive prizes, including a Script to Video Opportunity with Nas Academy and Nikon D3500 DSLR with Kit Lens! There will also be a pre-contest workshop taught by the experts from NasAcademy, where aspiring content creators 15 years old and up will learn useful tips and tricks for their next big story.
