Mamas are flocking to enrol their little ones into the award-winning Early Years Programme at Dulwich College ( Singapore), with its British independent school ethos and values. Here’s why!

DUCKS, as it is affectionately known, is the Early Years Programme at leading international school Dulwich College (Singapore). DUCKS spans the Foundation Stage (Toddler, Nursery and Reception) and Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) where little learners from the ages of 2 to 7 benefit from an exceptional introduction to their learning journey, with a “Student First” curriculum that aims to ensure that young people become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.

Psst! There could be a cubby or seat with your child’s name on it next year, as applications for 2023 enrolments are open. We recommend arranging a tour to see the College’s purpose-built, state-of-the-art campus for yourself, where you can find out more about the holistic and innovative curriculum. In the meantime, take our word for it – there are so many reasons to be impressed by this school, but here are our top five:

1. Dual-Language Curriculum

With at least one native English-speaking teacher and one native Mandarin-speaking teacher per class, the DUCKS English-Mandarin programme is truly immersive. Daily Mandarin lessons supplement this comprehensive approach, with classes tailored so students at all levels, from beginner to mother tongue, can progress confidently in both languages. Proficiency in more than one language is known to promote social and emotional growth and academic development – they’re building all-rounders here!

2. Forest School

One of the children’s favourite activities of the week? A trip to Forest School, of course. Making a fire, roasting marshmallows, sawing wood or digging trenches – these are just some of the thrilling activities that take place in the dedicated outdoor area. Besides being heaps of fun, learning through nature holds many key opportunities for Dulwich’s youngest students, from building independence and self-esteem, to taking measured risks and improving language and literacy.

3. Specialist Teachers

“Five little DUCKS went swimming one day…”: Dulwich’s youngest children enjoy weekly swimming lessons with specialist coaches. This high-level teaching extends to all areas of the curriculum – PE, music, drama, library, art, cooking and choir lessons included – with the DUCKS specialised teaching programme ensuring that every child is able to perform to the best of their ability and interest, and follow their dreams

4. High Potential Learners and Leaders

Mini leadership positions are available for even the littlest ones at Dulwich! From Student Council and House Captains to Ecowarriors and Techsperts, DUCKS children are encouraged to lead, support and organise activities and events throughout the year. Extending students in areas of strength is a key focus, with junior mathematicians given additional challenges and children encouraged to stand up and give their classmates the scoop on a subject they are particularly interested in. This personalised pathway within the broader curriculum strikes just the right balance between self-guided exploration and the teaching of core competencies, such as reading, writing, phonics, maths and Mandarin.

5. World-Class Facilities

Budding thespian? DUCKS students regularly perform in the 740-seater professional theatre, one of three in the Performing Arts Centre. The state-of-the-art campus boasts many other outstanding facilities to keep young minds and bodies engaged – from the dedicated Early Years library, butterfly garden and rooftop bike track, to the indoor gymnasium, professional kitchen and water play area.
