Goodman Open House 2024: New Outdoor Cinema, Pop-up Markets, Roving Performances, Craft Activities and More!

Goodman Arts Centre’s (GAC) annual open house, organised by Arts House Limited, returns this year with an array of exciting offerings that promise boundless fun for the whole family. The full-day event features open studios, workshops, performances, activities, and much more.

Music enthusiasts can stage their very own handbell performances, while drama lovers can join “Monster Magic: From Clay to Performance!” to unleash their creativity, craft their own clay monsters, and hone their storytelling skills. There are also numerous craft workshops, including Turkish floral painting, linocut printmaking, and cement sculpting for the little ones. Expanding on the nature theme, you and your little one can also join “Patterns of Nature”, a drawing workshop that lets you create your very own design by taking inspiration from the intricacies of nature, from the details in flowers to complex bark markings. The workshop will also dive into the beauty of Southeast Asian textiles, their traditions and how the patterns are curated and incorporated. Harry Potter fans shouldn’t miss “A Brief Introduction to Potions, Poisons and Poultices by Professor Emeritus Horatio Rumplepuff,” an exciting role-playing game inspired by the popular movie franchise. This beginner’s course for aspiring wizards, warlocks, and witches uses non-alcoholic ingredients for “potion-making” and is carefully guided, so parents can rest assured!

Following the success of its 2023 edition, this year’s Open House is even bigger and introduces a brand-new feature—an outdoor cinema! Families can sit back and relax or enjoy a cosy picnic while watching a movie together. Also, story picnic sessions will be hosted on the lawn, so don’t miss out! Unwind with a special public sound bath session, offering a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. End your day by participating in an exciting parade held in conjunction with the artists of GAC!
