If you’re looking to balance the IKEA toy storage units with something a bit more classic, head to Singapore Trading Post. Be warned, it’s a bit tricky to find (head to the back of the building and take the service elevator), but once you’re there, it’s totally worth it for a fab selection of quality furny (including lots of Chinese antiques) at pretty reasonable prices, sourced by the expat owners. They even have a kiddies corner full of all sorts of games and toys to keep the little ones occupied while you shop all three levels. Snap something up as soon as you see it because it probably won’t be there next time – this stuff goes quick! Call ahead to make sure they’re open as they sometimes close at funny times.
