Founded in the 1970s, Just Anthony is a purveyor of Chinese antique furniture and accessories in Singapore. Their amazing showroom has flourished as one of the must-visit destinations for Chinese antique pieces and reproductions on the island, focusing on finding unusual old furniture – big and small – and ensuring the original patina (the process of decolourisation) is kept wherever possible. Even as it gets more difficult to source for antique pieces today, they continue to bring back great finds from regular trips to China.
Whether you’re looking for stylish everyday items or statement pieces for your home, this one-stop homewares shop in Tiong Bahru won’t let you down, mama. Bringing a mixture of exquisite designer products and unique home decor to Singapore, Maissone makes it easy for you to be inspired and refurbish your nest in style. We particularly love their exclusive collection of bed linen from New Zealand: with its emphasis on fresh colour combinations and neat style… it’s sure to perk up your bedroom, creating the perfect space to lay your head at the end of the day.
More than just a shop, this gorgeous space also offers interior styling services, which fits perfectly with their ethos of “making the spaces at home work better for you.” Their eclectic mix of pieces range from industrial-inspired cabinets to dainty wall decorations and much more, but we’re particularly smitten with their own-brand collection of knitted poufs and cushions – the perfect alternative to tacky bean bags. They’re perfect for your kids to lounge on!

Are you a fan of Asian heritage or contemporary urban designs, mama? Either way, you’re bound to love Scene Shang for its effortless fusion of the two. Founders Pamela Ting and Jessica Wong have always been intrigued by the history and culture of Shanghai and were thus triggered to design modern Asian furniture. Each piece is reminiscent of or inspired by a certain element in the past. With the recent opening of its flagship store in Beach Road, you can now pop by to view and have a feel their latest collections.
If you’re looking to balance the IKEA toy storage units with something a bit more classic, head to Singapore Trading Post. A veritable treasure trove of goodies, shop here for bedding, collectables, lighting, furniture, antiques, rugs, cushions and small keepsakes. In addition to their shop at Tan Boon Liat, they’ve also got an outlet at PasarBella.

Be warned, it’s a bit tricky to find (head to the back of the building and take the service elevator), but once you’re there, it’s totally worth it for a fab selection of quality furny (including lots of Chinese antiques) at pretty reasonable prices, sourced by the expat owners. They even have a kiddies corner full of all sorts of games and toys to keep the little ones occupied while you shop all three levels. Snap something up as soon as you see it because it probably won’t be there next time – this stuff goes quick! Call ahead to make sure they’re open as they sometimes close at funny times.
The Shophouse is full of great finds, including goodies from colourful Indian lifestyle brand, Good Earth. We love their colourful textiles, distressed TV cabinets and chic lamps.
