Let’s be honest, there’s not much out there when it comes to content about the maritime industry in Singapore. Consequently, our kids may not be as naturally curious about all the ins and outs, the highs and lows of Singapore’s maritime scene. But here’s the thing: We live on an island and Singapore’s journey as a global maritime hub is filled with fascinating tales, ones that can even captivate us parents! That’s why the team at Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) are on a mission to spark that curiosity about Singapore’s maritime heritage through their Maritime Bus Microsite which will not only promote the exciting world of maritime to both parents and kids, but will also serve as an exciting family activity that all can enjoy.

With the Maritime Bus Microsite, kids can step into various roles and immerse themselves in interactive, educational gameplay that unveils the rich heritage of Singapore’s maritime industry. Discover 25 years of Singapore’s maritime heritage

The Maritime Bus Microsite is actually a reconceptualisation of the real-life MPA Maritime Bus, which was a travelling exhibition designed for the community to learn about Singapore’s maritime industry. After it’s been decommissioned, the bus has since gone virtual via the MPA Maritime Bus Microsite, which takes users on Singapore’s journey from its humble beginnings as a thriving trading port to its present-day status as a global hub port.

Take part in exciting missions

With a collection of interactive videos, the Maritime Bus Microsite offers an exciting opportunity for kids to delve into Singapore’s vibrant maritime history through educational missions. Pick your avatar from four characters of the Maritime Bus crew – the Navigator, the Developer, the Anchor and the Inventor. These characters guide you down four distinct pathways, each with its own unique storyline and gameplay. Along the way, they unfold the various factors and key events that have shaped Singapore’s rich maritime heritage.
