Daily Mandarin classes and 2.5 hrs of Science per week in high-tech dedicated labs are all part of the affordable British education for 5-12-year-olds at The Perse School Singapore

If you have been indecisive about choosing a school for your child because you are torn between wanting all the pros of an international school with great facilities and teachers, internationally recognised credentials and brand name as well as all the advantages of a smaller school where there’s a real sense of community and the chance to develop your child’s character, hang tight because The Perse School Singapore offers the best of both worlds. The Perse School Singapore is a Cambridge International School offering a British curriculum while incorporating elements of Singapore Maths and Mandarin. They currently cater to Key Stage 1 (age 5 to 7 years old) and Key Stage 2 (age 7 to 11 years old) pupils, with plans to open Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 (11 to 18 years old) in the future, starting with Year 7 this August 2022.

The Perse School Singapore has a proven academic curriculum with the benefit of an individualised learning programme to suit each unique child. They can do this because they are a small school that really focuses on each individual child, nurturing their academics and providing pastoral care that will boost each child’s self-esteem.

So what can your child expect at The Perse School Singapore?

2.5 hrs science classes every week in high tech dedicated Science labs

The Perse School Singapore aims to raise curious minds and they do this by incorporating science lessons into the daily schedule with 2.5 hrs of science every week! Children develop creative-thinking skills as they experiment with different ways of doing things, create new ideas, and use materials in new ways. The Perse School Singapore has two dedicated high tech science labs – in fact they are one of the very few Primary schools in Singapore to have these facilities for young children to explore science and all its concepts!

Daily Mandarin lessons

The Perse School Singapore’s curriculum incorporates Singapore Mathematics, daily Mandarin classes, and Science classes as well as English, Geography, History, Art, Music, PE, Global Perspectives, and Digital Literacy. From Year 3, each subject is taught by subject-specific trained teachers, providing depth and passion to each subject.

If you’ve looked around at many of the international schools in Singapore you’ll know that they don’t all offer daily Mandarin class so this is a real benefit of The Perse School Singapore.

Lots of play – games and extracurricular activities

Some elements of fun are incorporated into all lessons (after all when children are enjoying themselves they learn so much better). Plus there are plenty of extracurricular activities on offer including Dodgeball, Trinity Drama, Scouts, Junior Sting, Robotics, Photography, School Choir and much more. The school also offers FOC Enrichment classes on a Thursday afternoon after school (by invitation only). These classes are designed to help those children who need a little extra help or are excelling in Maths, English or Chinese.

During break and lunch students can enjoy playing in various areas of the school – an indoor Activity Room full of Lego, educational board games and more, an extensive library to read a book, draw, and have some quiet time, (or The Zen Den as children like to call it!). There is a large, sheltered area in the basement equipped with a variety of sports supplies for children to let off steam come rain or shine. When weather permits, children are taken on a short walk over the bridge to Bukit Timah reserve to allow them to run around on the playing field.

An affordable British Education

This all sounds great you may be thinking, but how much is this calibre of education going to cost me? You’ll be glad to know that The Perse School Singapore has secured their school fees until August 2024. Benchmarked on their normal tuition fee of *$25,000 the school is offering a 10% discount on the next academic year’s fees ($22,500) if registration is done by August 2023. Plus students already enrolled at The Perse School Singapore thereafter will automatically receive a 10% discount until they leave the school.
*GST not included.

If you think your child will benefit from daily Mandarin, and lots of science as part of a solid well-rounded British education, book a tour (virtual tours available too).
