The fairs of yesteryear have gotten an upgrade, mama! We’re giving you a sneak preview of the family fun to be had at CIS’ upcoming STEAM Fair – come one, come all!

Canadian International School (CIS) is inviting families to their annual fair that is sure to get people talking, with classic carnival games alongside engaging STEAM activities! At CIS, learning and fun (and candy and games) really do go hand-in-hand! Grab the fam and head on over for an action-packed festival of invention and creativity at the CIS STEAM Fair!

The Fair is open to all! You can bet you and the kiddos will share plenty of laughs trying a multitude of fun activities as you get to know STEAM – the interdisciplinary approach taking the academic world by storm which stands for Science, Technology, Entrepreneurship (or Engineering at some institutions), Arts and Mathematics.

CIS

Little ones can look forward to STEAM activities like weaving an enormous mural with ribbons and fabrics, constructing a giant city out of boxes and building magical forts out of fabric, clips, poles and chairs – all within CIS’ amazing Outdoor Discovery Centre!

Older kiddos will delight in designing and flying their own Balsa plane, circuit building, building a roller coaster, learning code to control robots, and designing and advertising shoes! They will have lots of opportunities to make connections and create something new with ideas that may at first seem unrelated, like getting the chance to investigate how design meets physics!

CIS

Fair-goers will observe firsthand the STEAM projects created by CIS students, giving them a better understanding of the STEAM experiences which get kids collaborating, taking risks and thinking creatively and critically. This is about building upon essential skills to be successful in the 21st century where nearly all jobs rely in some way on people’s expert capabilities in each of STEAM’s five core areas.

This is a fair for all ages, mama! After experimenting and exploring with the latest high-tech gadgets, stroll on over to the global bazaar where more than 100 booths will be selling everything from quirky gifts to trendy clothing and jewellery. Better yet, while the kids amuse themselves on one of the many fun carnival rides, indulge in a head or shoulder massage from a qualified visually impaired masseur. End the day on a high note enjoying live music with a refreshing beverage in hand!

CIS

CIS teachers are clearly pumped about the STEAM curriculum, where students from pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12, and in co-curricular programmes such as robotics, coding and lego leagues, are encouraged to find connections across the five key disciplines. They get to engage with 3D printers, laser cutters and other state of the art equipment in CIS’ stimulating makerspace rooms, all designed to motivate students to experiment, build and invent!

See you at the fair, mama!
