To provide support during this uncertain period, Sesame Street’s nonprofit educational organization, Sesame Workshop, is offering a broad variety of free online resources to help children and families through a new Caring for Each Other initiative.
The resources have been designed to help parents provide comfort and manage anxiety, as well as help with creating routines, fostering playful learning at home, and staying physically and mentally healthy. Sesame Workshop is committed to support families for the duration of this crisis, with brand new content added on a regularly basis, featuring the Sesame Street Muppets sharing messages of love and kindness, playful learning activities, and virtual play dates launching soon. Mindful that the adults who care for children also need support, the resources are intended to help caregivers as well as children.
With the Ministry of Education announcing mandatory Home-based Learning (HBL) once a week for all primary and secondary schools and junior colleges, IMDA has launched a new programme to allow low-income families purchase computers at an affordable price to ensure every student has access to a computer and internet to complete their online school activities.
The NEU PC Plus Programme offers low-income households with student or person with disabilities the opportunity to own a brand new computer at subsidised rates. Under the Programme, the PC-Bundle scheme provides a two-tier subsidy whereby successful applicants can own a PC-Bundle, starting from $232.73 for a desktop or $224.97 for a laptop.
The PC-Bundle includes:
- Your choice of computer (includes desktops and laptops by Acer)
- Three years of free broadband subscription by M1
- Antivirus software
- Productivity tools
- Delivery & installation
Full-time students (aged 25 and below) who are unable to co-pay for their PC-Bundle can apply for financial assistance under iNSPIRE Fund. For more info on eligibility and details on how to apply, click here!
Whether you’re a mama-to-be curious about car seat safety or have a preemie and you’re looking for a suitable car seat for your little one, Taxi Baby’s new virtual consultations will help to answer all your burning questions. You’ll get to speak directly to their founder Elise Mawson, an Australian-certified child car restraint fitter, and a US-certified child passenger safety technician instructor, and find out which car seats will best suit your child, your lifestyle, your vehicle and your budget (even if you’re trying to fit three kids in one row!). We’re not sure anyone knows more about car seat safety in Singapore than Elise!
Plus, if you choose a Virtual Micro-consult ($10) or the Micro-consult with Fit-check ($20), the consult fee will go towards any item purchased from the Taxi Baby store should you choose to order after your consult – so your consultation is basically free!
”Grandpa has a very strong will, but his body’s weak and often ill…” So begins the story, but the coronavirus has come to town and is spreading fast! What happens when Grandpa’s family and friends meet COVID-19 at his grandson’s birthday party? How will they all keep him safe?
Using simple rhymes and fun illustrations, Covid-19 for Kids helps children understand the facts and what they can do to help fight COVID-19. This book was written by a local mama to help parents talk to children about the coronavirus and answer the most important questions:
- What is COVID-19 and why is it such a big deal?
- How can I catch the coronavirus?
- What happens if I get it?
- What can I do to reduce my risk of getting infected?
- What is my role in reducing its spread, especially amongst those most vulnerable to the disease?
