At Sassy Mama we love travel, but sadly it’s been put on hold for the foreseeable future as the global COVID pandemic continues. A rare bright spot of COVID, however, has been the strength and resilience of Singaporeans and seeing how we’ve all come together to support one another in these trying times.
We are forever marveling at how amazing our little island is, and 2020 has presented the perfect opportunity to explore Singapore anew and see it through our children’s wonder-filled eyes.
It’s easy to feel anxious and uncertain about what the future holds, but for now let’s focus on the present and embrace all that’s wonderful about the Little Red Dot! If you’re in need of some inspiration, here are 5 magical places to visit in Singapore with kids…

Explore ethereal gardens and misty rainforests in the cool glass domes at Gardens by the Bay. Kiddos LOVE visiting the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome thanks to their air-conditioned coolness and futuristic vibes. The Cloud Forest is home to a 30-m high indoor waterfall, and features a Crystal Mountain and a Secret Garden just begging to be discovered by little explorers. Flower Dome, meanwhile, is the world’s largest glass greenhouse and offers a spectacular, ever-changing floral display of flowers and exotic plants from five different continents. And did we mention there’s a fantastic playground on site, too?
As a standout on our striking city skyline, Gardens by the Bay is a perfect symbol of Singapore as the premier tropical Garden City. The Gardens’ sustainable design and commitment to green principles also set the global standard that we can be proud to share with our children. For an under-the-sea adventure, head for the dark blue hues of Resorts World Sentosa, S.E.A. Aquarium. Home to more than 100,000 marine animals from over 1,000 species across 50 different habitats, this is one of the world’s largest aquariums. Kiddos can see marine life heroes like sharks and dolphins up close; meet real-life Nemo clownfish, and marvel at Manta Rays at the Open Ocean Habitat.
Throughout the year Resorts World Sentosa, S.E.A. Aquarium offers fun-filled, educational thematic experiences for kids that introduce them to the wonders of aquatic life while also teaching important lessons about marine biology and ocean ecology and conservation. Slow down and escape the city with a stroll along the promenade. Listed among our favourite parks in Singapore and easily one of the prettiest places for a picnic, Changi Beach Park offers up sea breezes and a fab children’s playground. Nature abounds of course, but you’ll also spot intriguing sculptures and for vehicle-obsessed youngsters there are plenty of planes and boats. You can also go fishing, rent bicycles, try your hand at kayaking, or enjoy a meal at the park’s on-site bistro.
