Sassy Mama Summer Style: How to Look Chic in the Heat!

Style & BeautyPost Category - Style & BeautyStyle & Beauty - Post Category - Style For YouStyle For You

As mamas living in the torridity of the tropics we quite often find ourselves in a losing battle with the heat and humidity (the hair, the makeup, the wardrobe… you name it, it suffers!). Obviously it’s not that difficult to throw on a pair of shorts, an old tank top, and a pair of flip flops when you’re racing to get the kids ready for school, however it’s quite another thing to be fashionable and on-trend in the overwhelming heat. But with a touch of wardrobe planning, and a few clever purchases, you can be both practical and stylish in the fashion department… and if our own picks for Sassy Mama Summer Style are anything to go by you’ll no longer be waging war against your wardrobe. Phew!

Pretty Prints

Prints Collage

We’re not claiming that prints for summer is revolutionary but it’s a tried and tested fashion favourite that makes us smile! Feminine, colourful, cheerful and fresh, prints are a great choice in that there truly is something out there for every one. This summer we’re all about mixing up the traditional; geometric floral prints, neon animal prints and impressionist brush stroke prints are some of our faves. Accessorise with neutral accessories in nude, beige and black and you’ll be ready in a flash. And the trick to avoid looking like a circus performer? Keep it simple and let the print speak for itself!

Nudes and Neutrals

During the sweltering summer months, it’s easy to ignore style and simply dress for comfort and convenience (we’re only human after all!) but you don’t have to choose between the two mama! Dressing in neutrals is the ultimate in cool casual styling — this versatile style can be dressed up with bright bold accessories or paired down with other neutrals for an earthy, sophisticated look. If this trend isn’t already present in your wardrobe, we implore you to jump on this bandwagon now.

Colour Pop

Pop Of Colour Collage_2

What’s summer without a big hit of colour? Amplify your look this season with a vibrant boost! A pop of colour can instantly lift your look from drab to fab, which is why this trend is a favourite among fashionistas. Don’t feel intimidated by bold brights though mama, if full on colour blocking isn’t your thing, there are still plenty of ways to get that zing into your everyday outfit. We love a simple neon bandeau under a white dress, with simple accessories in jewel toned colours.

Cool Blue

Cool Blue Collage The colour of the season, from cobalt to navy, periwinkle to aquamarine, blue has become a staple for many mama wardrobes and rightly so! It’s one of those colours that is soft enough to work with all skin tones but vivid enough to brighten features. When it comes to accessorising, keep it simple – gold jewellery pops against a blue backdrop, comfy neutral flats are chic, practical and kid-proof, and pairing blue with a bright clutch is a simple way to adopt the colour-blocking trend.
