Ah, if we could only let you smell this room through your screen! Nostos: Records of the Self is presented by Aesop Skincare at Gallery 10 within the National Museum. Walk into the room and you’ll be hit with a wonderful waft of Bergamot, Sandalwood and Olibanum essential oils in the air! The oils are infused into elevated pools around the room, with bulbs hanging over them so you can see the drops of essential oils within the bodies of water. The scent experience was created with the concept of memory in mind, and encourages visitors to navigate the room with their sense of smell.

Created by local performance arts collective Starlight Alchemy, The Flower of Life and the Infinite Self is one of their first installations after having worked with Singapore Night Festival for years. The group of fire theatre and dance artists decided to create their own installation for the festival, inviting visitors to enter the large bamboo dome where you’ll find a smaller mirror dome inside, reflecting against the geometric structure and giving the illusion of an infinite patterned surrounding. Kiddos will love the flickering lights and the changing of colours!

Stand at just the right angle from this Banyan tree next to the National Museum and you may just get winked at by a face hiding amongst the leaves. How magical! The Tree That Blinked by UK artist Karel Bata is a very simple, yet impactful, play on light. The faces change seamlessly as you look at it, and you’ll find that the art is made more obvious behind the lens of a camera!
