NFL fans, listen up! Wondering where to watch Super Bowl LIII in Singapore? Here’s where to catch the big game!
Super Bowl Sunday may be a de facto American holiday, but what happens when you live halfway around the world and the football game is actually played bright and early Monday morning? Just swap out beers and guacamole for some strong coffee and pancakes, of course! You can also click here to see all the fun commercials that are expected to air during the game (OMG it’s the return of Carrie Bradshaw!).
Real talk, mamas: I’m a diehard New England Patriots fan, so I can’t profess any sort of journalistic objectivity here as they prepare to take on the Los Angeles Rams. Neither would you, if you had the greatest coach and greatest quarterback of all time who basically hold every playoff record. [Hilariously, this is what I wrote two years ago…and last year…and it hasn’t changed!]
But I digress. This year’s game matches up the two of the league’s most high-powered offenses (the Rams ranked #2 with 32.9 points per game, the Pats were third at 27.3). Meanwhile each team’s defense was in the league’s bottom half, despite the presence of some standout stars. In other words, expect some offensive fireworks!
Another big storyline heading into the game is how it pits the league’s two most highly-regarded coaches against each other. Offensive wunderkind Sean McVay of the Rams, who is just 33, will be the youngest head coach ever in a Super Bowl, while the Patriots’ Bill Belichick is a defensive mastermind and the longest-tenured coach in the league (and the holder of 7 Super Bowl rings). Which will win out: inventive new offensive schemes, or intricately disguised defenses?
Where and When:
Super Bowl LIII is happening at 6:30pm Eastern Standard Time Sunday, 3 February in Atlanta Georgia which means 7:30am on Monday, 4 February for us here in Singers.
Watch at home
For the first time this year, the game will not be shown on TV in Singapore (boooo!). However, there are other options for watching it at home:
If you or your husband happen to be traveling at this time, this handy article includes a rundown of every channel in the world that broadcasts the NFL!
If you want to watch on TV at home, your best option is to purchase NFL GamePass, which allows international viewers to stream the game on any mobile device or their TV. At US$25 it’s not cheap, though!
Within the US, CBS will be streaming the game. I’m no tech whiz, but if you have a VPN you may be able to figure out a workaround.
Unless you’re superstitious (like I am!), football games – and especially the Super Bowl – are way more fun to watch with a crowd. Even if your team’s not in the game, why not rep them by heading down in your favourite jersey or t-shirt? With many spots in Singapore hosting breakfast viewing parties, be sure to book early, mama!
