Calling all young builders! Now’s your chance to build your dream home and get hands-on with free Build The Change LEGO workshops at VivoCity’s family event. Plus, take home limited-edition collectables as a memento!
Want to spark your kids’ curiosity about how Singapore is built? Head down to ‘Building Singapore Festival: From Dreams to Reality,’ happening at VivoCity from 5 to 7 September 2025. Organised by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), this family-friendly event has five interactive zones with exciting role-playing games, workshops and activities, including exclusive Build The Change LEGO workshops! Read on to find out why your kids will love it.
Kids get to role-play as professionals

With five hands-on zones to conquer, there’s much for kids to do and learn. To begin, little ones will receive an ‘Event License’. Then, it’s time to get to work. After completing each zone, kids can redeem a stamp on their event pass. After collecting all five stamps, they can redeem a limited-edition event collectable, a cute keepsake for young city builders.
With digital role-playing games, each of the five zones represents the stages of how buildings and spaces in Singapore come to life. Kids will get to experience what it’s like to power up buildings as a mechanical and electrical engineer, design homes as an architect, maintain a building as a facility manager, or even build infrastructures and tunnels just like a civil and structural engineer. From planning and designing to construction, building, management and maintenance, kids will discover how the familiar spaces were built and what they can anticipate in Singapore’s future.
Build The Change LEGO workshops & exclusive collectable

If you’ve got kids who love their LEGOs, sign them up for the Build the Change LEGO workshops taking place at this weekend event. Tasked to express their ideas for making cities more playful, young builders can get as creative as they like at Playful Cities, a workshop developed with engineering firm Arup.
In the second workshop developed with architecture firm Gensler, kids will build mini LEGO cities and spaces to meet different people’s needs and interests. Then, they will come up with creative ways to tackle real-world challenges. For each workshop, there are two workshop levels: 6 to 9 years old and 10 years old and above. Sign up to secure a slot at the Build The Change LEGO workshops.
Save the date, and plan a fun family day out at VivoCity so the kids can discover how the sector integrates technology and teamwork to build a safe, sustainable and inclusive nation. Plus, they might just discover their new dream profession!
