Curious about taking a cruise vacation? This mama and her daughter review the new entertainment offerings on Genting Dream

My daughter and I recently had the pleasure attending a performance of the acrobatic show Sonio, now a remarkable entertainment feature on the Genting Dream cruise ship. The show combines a huge cast of talented gymnastics, magic, and dance performers, high tech video displays, and a solid pop vocalist. The best we can describe it is a circus mixed with a rock concert. Children and adults alike will be sure to enjoy the up-tempo songs and the spectacular, “How did they do that?!” magic and acrobatic tricks.

The Dream has certainly upped the game on the level of entertainment available on a cruise ship.  No longer do you need to wait for a circus to come to Singapore to bring this style of entertainment to your family!  “Never boring” could be the motto of this show, which your sassy family is sure to enjoy.

Going on a cruise often has forgettable entertainment, but speaking from experience, the quality and length of the show was some of the best I have seen.

We also had an opportunity to walk around the ship and look at the amenities available.  I was impressed with the quality of finish on the ship, the huge waterpark, and posh sundeck available to suite holders. Whatever your fancy beyond the circus-style entertainment, Dream offers indulgences like spa treatments, gourmet food (including the buffet and upscale restaurants), to games of chance in the casino.

Kids, meanwhile, are sure to love the tricked out video arcade, where I spotted Dance Dance Revolution and several driving simulators. The theme of the ship is Astronauts and Mermaids, and we had the lovely surprise of meeting the “ship mermaid” as well.

I brought my daughter along for the visit, and while she is usually a tough critic, she now wants to try the Dream cruise for our next family vacation.  I agree and we will be giving the ship a consideration next time we need a getaway.
