From interactive displays to dedicated kids’ activities, there’s plenty of fun to be had at these awesome kid-friendly 2024 exhibitions at art galleries and museums in Singapore. Some exhibitions are even free to enter!

If you’re on the lookout for a fun, educational experience with the kids, there are plenty of kid-friendly exhibitions and free museums in Singapore to check out! A visit to a museum exhibition is a great way for kids to beat boredom and learn new things. We highlight some of the more child-friendly art exhibitions and museum exhibitions at some of our favourite spots to take the kids – from the newly revamped Keppel Art Centre for Education with immersive digital art experiences to the ArtScience museum (the FutureWorld exhibition is always a hit!), Science Centre Singapore, the National Museum Singapore and more! Most of these exhibitions have lots of interactive fun to suit any age group – plus, we’ve thrown in some other fun exhibitions around town that we think kids will enjoy. 1. Naruto: The Gallery at Universal Studios Singapore

Calling all Naruto fans – here’s your chance to relive Naruto’s heroic story from the beginning to the Fourth Great Ninja War at Naruto: The Gallery. Journey through unforgettable moments, get an exclusive peek into the storyboards, character art and many more that make up this popular anime series. Watch original animations that were inspired by iconic scenes, and take home some exclusive merchandise to add to your collection. 2. Harry Potter: Vision of Magic at RWS

Get excited Potterheads, there’s another Harry Potter experience coming our way towards the end of the year! Harry Potter: Visions of Magic will be the Asia premiere and the largest-ever engagement of its kind. Harry Potter: Visions of Magic created by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment and NEON is an evocative and interactive art experience exploring some of the most mysterious corners of the wizarding world across 40,000 square feet. Discover a series of immersive environments inspired by enigmatic places in the magical community, like the Room of Requirement, Newt’s Menagerie, the Ministry of Magic, and more. Look out for responsive video content, bold architecture, and original soundscapes while interactive technology will illuminate the invisible, revealing visions of magic that bring the entire experience to life.

3. Weird But True! Exhibition

The kids will love this exhibition at Cloud Forest, where they can dive into the plant and animal kingdoms to discover fascinating facts that they may not learn about in their textbooks! 4. Air Force Museum Exhibits (FREE!)

The Air Force Museum is a free museum for kids in Singapore that blends original artefacts and interactive media displays to highlight the history, heritage and values of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF). Expect an engaging, hands-on experience here, as the indoor gallery lets kids learn about the RSAF through interactive displays and role-playing games, while the outdoor gallery has a number of fighter jets, missiles and anti-aircraft systems that you’ll want to snap pics of.

5. Children’s Museum Singapore (FREE!)

Children’s Museum Singapore (CMSG) is the first museum dedicated to children 12 years and below. If you’re looking for a creative way to teach your kids about Singapore’s history, the interactive exhibitions at the Children’s Museum Singapore are the answer. With engaging exhibitions and safe spaces for kids to roam, explore, and play, there is no better way to get your kids excited about history. Young toddlers can explore the Play Pod – a fun area for free play – while older kids can travel back in time to learn why our forefathers came to Singapore. Read our CMSG review here.

6. ArtScience Museum: Future World Exhibition

The ArtScience Museum is a gorgeous museum for kids in Singapore that houses plenty of exhibitions throughout the year that inspire creativity and wonder. One of our favourite exhibitions for kids in Singapore has to be ArtScience’s permanent exhibition FutureWorld: Where Art Meets Science. This permanent exhibition has three new interactive artworks that rethink and showcase the endless possibilities of play in a new gallery titled Exploring New Frontiers. This fantastic exhibit created in collaboration with the Japanese art and technology collective teamLab, is an interactive exploration of the “intersection between art, science, technology and culture”. There are light installations to marvel at, a giant slide to whizz down, drawing activities where you can colour with special crayons, scan your creation, and watch it appear on a live screen and more. 7. Exhibition of Asian Antiquities & Decorative Art: ACM (FREE!)

The Asian Civilisations Museum is home to over 1,300 artefacts, presented across 11 galleries and spans over 14,000m2. Excellent at providing learning opportunities for both younger and older children, ACM features age-appropriate activities, gallery-based storytelling sessions and hands-on workshops, as well as a continually updated range of exhibitions.

8. Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum Exhibits

Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum is one of our fave museums for kids in Singapore! There are more than 2,000 natural history specimens on display in 15 different thematic zones. The display items range from plants and amphibians to mammals, and even includes a sperm whale that was salvaged from when it was found dead off Jurong Island in 2015. Want to see a dinosaur? The permanent exhibit sees three 80% complete diplodocid sauropod fossils to gape at, as well as tonnes of other animals and birds. Upstairs is a heritage gallery that includes some of the specimens that were displayed at the old Raffles Museum. This museum is best for older kids, but younger ones have been known to enjoy it too!

9. SINGAPO人: Discover Chinese Singaporean Culture (FREE!)

Head to the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and discover local Chinese culture through engaging exhibitions and performances at this museum for kids in Singapore! Learn about the Zhongyuan Festival and more, at this SINGAPO人 exhibition which highlights Chinese Singaporean culture from food to music, as well as language and festivals. Learn how Chinese culture in Singapore has evolved in a way quite unlike other communities around the world, and discover what it means to be a ‘Chinese Singapo人’ today.

10. Keppel Centre for Art Education Exhibition (FREE!)

National Gallery Singapore is home to the largest public collection of Singaporean and Southeast Asian art in the region. Within the National Gallery, the Keppel Centre for Art Education is a special exhibition space for kids, where they can let their creativity run loose. They offer immersive digital and physical art experiences, where kids can paint with a digital paintbrush and experiment with shapes and colours to create art that will be projected onto the wall. 11. The News Gallery: Beyond Headlines Exhibition (FREE!)

Read between the lines and develop information and media literacy skills at the National Library’s latest permanent exhibition, The News Gallery: Beyond Headlines. Divided into five zones, the exhibition, which features original copies of Singapore’s earliest newspapers and a fun, fake news-busting game for the whole family, encourages library patrons to consider the perspectives and influences that lie behind news stories. Drawing from the National Library Board’s rich collection of over 120 Singapore newspaper titles published since the 1820s, The News Gallery’s interactive exhibits will be refreshed from time to time.

12. E-mmersive Experiential Environments

Ready for a fun and unique 3D experience? E-mmersive Experiential Environments at the Science Centre is an immersive exhibition that uses technology to create an experience unlike any other. With a 360 Wall Projection that uses projection mapping, you will get to interact with the natural world in a new way. Watch as the projections change from day to night and sunny to rainy as the landscape changes and play with the projected fishes on the walls when they appear. If your kiddo loves airplanes, they can have the opportunity to ‘fly’ their own plane here too! The Fly Your Dream with Flight Crafter game within this exhibition uses virtual reality to teach kids more about aviation and planes.

Future Makers Exhibitions: The Science Centre’s permanent exhibition, Future Makers, celebrates the valuable contribution that engineers have made to shape our lives. It explores day-to-day innovations as well as complex engineering marvels that have shaped and changed lives. Aimed at young adults, guests visiting Future Makers can catch a glimpse of the modern engineering world, get hands-on with the interactive exhibits and problem-solve their way through an escape room. Do note that Ginger Lily is closed for maintenance until further notice.

Phobia: The Science of Fear Exhibition: This exhibit at the Science Centre explores different phobias from the fear of being buried alive to monsters under the bed – it can be a little scary for smaller kids so best to go with tweens or older kids who can take a fright or two!

Know Your Poo Exhibition: The Science Centre’s Know Your Poo is a seriously fun exhibition that touches on the topics of human waste, toilets and sanitation. As you wind your way through the exhibition, you will discover how and why we need to poo. You also learn about the history and evolution of sanitation and toilets. The exhibition also highlights the urgent issue of the global divide. It then shows how engineering solutions might answer some of these challenges. Know Your Poo serves as a reminder that we all need to pay attention to the importance of providing good sanitation and practising good habits in order to safeguard our health and be a better society.

14. Peranakan Museum (FREE!)

Peranakan Museum features brand-new permanent galleries that present exceptional objects from Peranakan material culture. Look forward to new thematic showcases, objects, interactive displays and programmes featuring the stories of Arab Peranakans, Chinese Peranakans, Chitty Melakans (or Peranakan Indians), and Jawi Peranakans. Visitors will experience nine galleries across three floors.

A modern-day ‘edutainment’ centre that showcases the past, present and future of Singapore, the Singapore Discovery Centre is a hands-on, minds-on experience ideal for older kiddos. Learn about life in Singapore from colonial times through wars and Japanese rule right up to newer discoveries and achievements at the Through the Lens of Time permanent gallery. This interactive gallery brings families on a journey through the historical moments in Singapore as different perspectives are brought to life. Other highlights include the Black Laser Tag battlefield for immersive laser tag with the kids, the Crossfire Paintball space, iWerks Theatre for all the latest movie screenings, and the Black Lake facility, where the fam can participate in a multi-sensorial escape experience with 13 different rooms and 4 story chapters.

The Singapore City Gallery showcases Singapore’s dramatic transformation over the past 50 years, through 40 interactive and immersive exhibits that detail the planning challenges and the innovative solutions that tackle them. Kids will love getting a bird’s eye view of large-scale architectural models – can they find their condo or home?

Trick Eye Museum is where you’ll have a blast taking lots of pictures that trick your eyes! Trick Eye Museum is all about optical illusions – there are six themed zones to explore. We love that you won’t find “do not touch” signs such as in the museum – visitors can freely touch and interact with all the displayed exhibits!

18. Madame Tussauds Exhibits

Madame Tussauds is where kids can explore life-size wax exhibits and multi-media displays at the Images of Singapore Museum on Sentosa. Designed to immerse families in our little red dot’s culture and history, kids can watch the multi-screen theatre presentations (and maybe even learn a thing or two). Bring the camera along, too, and get ready to take pictures with the wax exhibitions.

19. Singapore Navy Museum (FREE!)

Have a kid who loves all things naval vessels? The Singapore Navy Museum near Changi Naval Base has now reopened and is a great place to learn more about the Singapore Navy. You can take a closer look at the components from early warships and guns, displays of model submarines and even ships of the RSN in a water tank. Don’t miss the outdoor viewing deck on the second level that provides a wide view of the museum’s outdoor exhibits of old guns and weapon systems from decommissioned ships such as the County-class Landing Ship Tank, Patrol Vessel B-class and Missile Gunboat. There are also models of missiles, torpedoes and guns that are currently in service. Free entry! Plus, there’s a free shuttle bus service from Expo MRT to the museum on weekends from 10am to 1pm.

Visit Singapore’s first and most comprehensive private gemmology museum, where you will get the chance to see a wide variety of gemstones, rocks and minerals. Discover the process of how these gems are formed, beginning with the formation of the rocks to the extraction of the gems. 21. Indians in Singapore – Past & Present Exhibition (FREE!)

The Indian Heritage Centre houses five permanent galleries with different exhibitions, a museum shop as well as programming and activity spaces. Indians in Singapore is a permanent exhibition at this museum for kids. The exhibit displays artefacts and interactive displays that tell the history of interactions between South and Southeast Asia. The exhibition depicts the experiences of the Indian community in both Singapore and Malaya during the colonial period and highlights the contributions of the Indian and South Asian communities to Singapore’s nation-building efforts.

If you have a DC fan at home, take them to XM Studios to check out the region’s most extensive collection of collectible statues! The store exhibits art collectables with sections set aside for the various comics universes – DC, Marvel, Transformers, Japanese stalwarts Ultraman and Godzilla, plus Star Wars too.

23. Changi Experience Studio

While this isn’t a free exhibition, Changi Experience Studio is certainly a fun, interactive experience that will entertain the whole family for an hour or so. Hop on a stationary bike and join the virtual race to re-live the epic runway race between an airplane and a Ferrari. Go behind the scenes to discover the rich history of Changi Airport, engage in some friendly competition at interactive digital game stations and virtually play your favourite instrument to join the musical symphony at the Garden of Harmony.

It’s an interactive gallery that allows you to discover different aspects of Singapore’s journey towards a more sustainable lifestyle and culture. Learn about how climate change impacts our densely populated city-state and find out the simple steps that you and the kids can take today to help combat climate change at home. Does your kiddo love firetrucks? Head over to the Singapore Civil Defence Heritage Gallery, where you can marvel at firetrucks, meet firefighters and learn all about how these everyday heroes work tirelessly to protect. Older kids will be intrigued by the latest firefighting and rescue technology that empowers them to carry out rescue operations. Selected Fire Stations host open houses on Saturday mornings over two time slots – 9am to 9:50am or 10am to 10:50am. Both time slots are guided tours. To visit the Emergency Preparedness Centre or the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery, be sure to submit your request online here. Tots will love this experience, where they can learn about the cool Emergency Vehicles and their capabilities, watch a demo on donning the full firefighting protective gear, and see how the equipment is used (nothing beats seeing those massive sprays in person!).

26. Singapore Maritime Gallery (FREE!)

Most of us don’t think about the important role that the maritime industry has in our daily lives. Take the kids down to the Singapore Maritime Gallery, where you can learn about Singapore’s rich maritime heritage and discover how Singapore remains a vital global hub port. At the PlayPort, younger kids can play with magnetic shapes on the wall to create their own ship, while older kids can head to Cargo Dash to play virtual games and race against time to move containers to the correct spot.

27. Time Capsule & Singapore Flyer

Everyone knows the iconic Singapore Flyer, but not many know there’s a super cool Time Capsule experience that takes you on an interactive journey to reminisce on Singapore’s past, present and future. Watch the kids light up as the time travel robot R65 takes you back to Singapore’s humble origins and reminds you of how far we’ve come as a nation. This experience comes in a bundle package with the Singapore Flyer so you can end the journey in awe of Singapore’s stunning skyline.

28.Plastic: Remaking Our World

Plastic is in so many products that we use on a daily basis from packaging to footwear, furniture, household goods and more. However, it has also negatively impacted our environment and lost its utopian appeal. Plastic: Remaking Our World is an exhibition that depicts the history and future of this widely used material and features over 300 objects, posters, film and photographs from Vitra Design Museum and shines a light on the use of plastic and sustainability in Singapore.
