Teachers’ Day in Singapore: Monday 11, September 2023

To recognise the contributions and dedication of our teachers, MOE typically celebrates Teachers’ Day on the last Friday of Term 3 before the September school holiday. This year Teachers’ Day was due to take place on Friday 1 September 2023 however as Polling Day for the Presidential Election will fall on Friday, 1 September 2023 if there is a contest, MOE will move this year’s Teachers’ Day (which is a local school holiday) to Monday, 11 September 2023, i.e. the first Monday after the September school holidays.

Getting a personalised Teachers’ Day gift is always memorable because it’s a chance to really show your appreciation and care for your child’s teacher. In fact, many teachers have said that personalised or handmade gifts were some of their favourite presents received on Teachers’ Day or at the end of term. Need some ideas to create a personalised Teachers’ Day gift? Preschool teacher Amy said her favourite Teachers’ Day Gifts were homemade art projects, including a canvas from the entire class with each child’s handprint and the words ‘love, teach, inspire’ over it! Teacher Mr Tan shared with us that his favourite Teachers’ Day gift was a handwritten letter from his students sharing their memorable moments — he said it rekindled his passion for teaching. While for science teacher Mr Hadyu it was a handmade quilt featuring the periodic table of elements with the stitching ‘To Mr. Haydu. A teacher as good as Au. Love, Wyatt.” Sweet!

Here’s wishing a Happy Teachers’ Day to all the amazing educators out there!
