9:30am – 6:30pm
This workshop is ideal for those who want to take on the often thankless, but sometimes hugely rewarding life of the writer. It will look as much at the business and process of writing as it does the content, and will examine the role of the writer – something that is often seen these days as at least 50% of the selling of a book.
The workshop will be run by Simon Clews, one of the world’s leading trainers in written and oral communication and engagement. For over fifteen years now Simon Clews has been the Director of the Melbourne Engagement Lab at Melbourne University in Australia, a unique centre that supports postgraduate students, early career researchers and academic staff as they develop their research into writing for mainstream audiences. His students have published everything from award-winning books to trend-setting blogs, including articles, newspaper columns, opinion pieces and essays.
