Now in its sixth instalment, the National Library Board’s (NLB) Read! Fest 2019 will be held over five weekends from 22 June to 28 July 2019. Themed ‘Voyage’, Read! Fest 2019 will take readers on a journey through time, exploring literary topics across past, present and future and uncovering Singapore’s rich history and heritage. There will be over 140 programmes in English and Mother Tongue Languages catered for youths, teens and adults, and fiction and non-fiction readers. Read! Fest 2019 allows us to explore Singapore Literature past and present, the Singapore story retold, future narratives and new thinking in a new world.
This year, NLB will also launch the inaugural National Reading Challenge, a new initiative that aims to encourage Singaporeans to form a positive habit of reading. Lucky draw chances will be allocated to participants when they borrow physical library items or eBooks from NLB’s collection, and winners get to walk away with attractive prizes. The challenge hopes to encourage everyone to find time to read, through a combination of gamification and publicity.
