Time: 7pm – 9.30pm
125 years ago, the Vanda Miss Joaquim, Singapore’s national flower, was created by a young woman of Armenian heritage named Agnes Joaquim.
In a special #eatmywords experience by NOSHtrekker, Linda Locke, the great-grandniece of Agnes Joaquim, recounts the story of how passion and a commitment to skill and perseverance led to Agnes’s achievements in horticulture in Singapore and beyond.
An Armenian Menu
Dinner for the evening will be served within a heritage black-and-white terrace house and features an Armenian menu inspired by Agnes Joaquim’s prize-winning garden. Dine on dishes like mini lahmajuns and spinach and feta cheese soufflé, Baharat spiced chicken and orange semolina cake.
The children’s book Agnes and Her Amazing Orchid: How Vanda Miss Joaquim Became Singapore’s National Flower, which will be featured in the Singapore’s Writers Festival for Families (SWF3), by Linda Locke will be available for sale at $14.00. Book and limited edition children’s t-shirt sets will also be available at the special price of $25.00. Cash sale only.
