Got to Move: Singapore’s Nationwide Dance Movement

events
Post Category - Arts + CultureArts + Culture

Got To Move (GTM), an initiative by the National Arts Council, aims to grow appreciation for dance in Singapore and bring different communities together so that everyone can bond through shared experiences in dance. This year, the festival explores novel ways of reaching out to audiences to show the inclusivity of dance through programmes that cater to anyone and everyone.

GTM will bring its programming to more areas of Singapore, with activities held at various locations island-wide completely free of charge. Be prepared to dance your heart out all the way from Orchard to Tampines!

Highlights include:

Through the Years by The DanceSport Academy

This project aims to foster better family bonding through the fun of partner dancing. The timeline starts in the 1970s with Rock’n Roll, onto the 1980s for some Disco moves, 1990s see the rise in the Hip hop and the millennials are all familiar with the K-Pop culture. The workshop will take the participants through all of these different dances so the different generations can experience different dance moves together.
