What does it mean to be grounded? How does being grounded feel like? What can being grounded do for you?
We have met or known people who are flying in the air all the time. Perhaps we are one of them ourselves. They have their heads up in the clouds, seem to be spaced out, and their attention wanders off easily. It can be frustrating to work with them as they are not present and focused on the task at hand.
Being grounded is the opposite of this. Imagine a big tree. It stands tall, strong and majestic. Its branches reach up to the sky and the roots are anchored deeply into the ground. The taller and bigger the tree is, the more deeply the roots are anchored.
A grounded person knows clearly who he is, what he wants. He is not easily swayed by circumstances or what other people say. He is able to handle sudden changes and all the numerous things that life throws at him with equanimity. And he is stable emotionally and psychologically.
