Launched in July 2011, ciNE65 aims to capture our Singaporean identity through the lenses of local budding film-makers. It encourages aspiring young film-makers to share what Singapore means to them. This seminar is part of ciNE65 2019. Share your Singapore story and submit a 3-min short film before 18 March 2019!
As Singapore’s first boutique digital film lab, Mocha Chai Laboratories provides digital services including Digital Cinema Package (DCP) mastering and colour grading. This field trip will allow participants to get an insight into the workings of the post-production process. Founder and filmmaker Yeewei Chai will share more about the facilities in their lab and sound editor Nikola Medic will share about the importance of sound in a film.
Other topics include the process of working with filmmakers, the importance of the post-production process for both shorts and features, and understanding the capabilities of Dolby Atmos at MochaChai’s own Dolby Atmos certified dubbing theatre.
About Chai Yee Wei
One of Singapore’s most prolific film directors, Chai Yee Wei belongs to a new wave of award-winning directors. He has directed a mix of horror and music films like Blood Ties (2009), Twisted (2011), That Girl in Pinafore (2013) and I WANT YOU (2014). He is also the founder of Mocha Chai Laboratories, a digital film lab based in Singapore.
About Nikola Medic
Nikola received his MA degree from the National Film and Television School in London. During his studies, Nikola worked as a sound editor in a London based sound post production studio called Zound. His short animation Nikola did sound design for Sleeping with the Fishes won prestigious BAFTA award for the best short animation in 2014. For his sound work on the same project, Nikola was nominated in Los Angeles for MPSE Golden Reel award. For his work on a feature film Containment Nikola won the award for the Best Sound Design in a feature film at Southampton International Film Festival in 2015.
