This year, due to the Covid-19 situation and measures that have been implemented, the scale of the Mid-Autumn Festival in Chinatown has been greatly reduced. The Chinatown Festival Organizing Committee hopes to continue the tradition and celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival in Chinatown through dazzling streets light and to bring festive cheers to everyone. Here are some fun virtual activities you can do with the whole fam while staying safe!

Mooncake Making Online Workshop

Mooncakes are one of the many hallmarks of the Mid-Autumn festival. If you haven’t had a chance to purchase a box of mooncakes for the family, why not try your hand at making your own instead? Tune in to Kele Mooncake’s virtual workshop on Facebook and enjoy a hands-on experience with the kids! You’ll need to purchase your baking kit from Kele Mooncake by 1 September 2021.

Mid-Autumn Festival 2021 Street Light-Up

Be enchanted by 700 sculptured lanterns along the streets of Chinatown. The lanterns display will depict traditional Chinese motifs and characters such as Chang’e, Goddess of the Moon in Chinese mythology, it will also illustrate this year’s theme – “family”, as a core element in getting Singaporean unite together as one big family to overcome the challenges ahead and emerge stronger.

Date: 7 September – 5 October 2021
Time: 7pm – midnight (Daily)
Venue: Along New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street and South Bridge Road

Chinatown MAF2021 Online Activities

Get in on all the Mid-Autumn fun with a host of exciting giveaways and content that’ll teach you all about the traditions and celebratory customs of the Mid-Autumn festival!

360 Virtual Tour and Heritage Trail
For the first time, the public can view the Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival 2020 street light-up from the comfort of their home through a virtual tour that is taken through aerial photography.
