Here's wishing all our Muslim readers and followers Ramadan Kareem ⭐️🌙 The first day of the Ramadan fasting month begins tomorrow! Here are some Ramadan fast facts:⁠
✨ During Ramadan, Muslims stop eating and drinking from when the sun goes up to when the sun sets.⁠
✨ They are encouraged to eat a nourishing pre-dawn meal, called the suhoor/sahur, before fasting so they have enough energy for the day.⁠
✨ Children are not required to fast until they reach puberty. Many Muslim parents will encourage children to fast ‘half days’ in order to practice abstaining from food and drink. When they do begin fasting full days like Muslim adults, they have to be comfortable doing so and are not encouraged to continue if they start to become dizzy or overly hungry to the point of feeling ill.⁠
✨ Fasting encourages believers to direct the energy that would be used for eating and digesting food, toward thinking, meditating, practising good deeds, breaking bad habits and being more empathetic toward others. It also helps believers understand how the less fortunate feel when they do not have food and water.⁠
