Here’s where you can find kids’ Christmas crafts over the next few weeks in Singapore, and get your sugar rush on by decorating gingerbread houses!
With school holidays upon us and little hands around the house that are surely looking for ways to keep busy, what better way to get in the festive mood than with some good old Christmas crafting? From making ornaments and decorating stockings, to making cute little Christmas puppets, there are heaps of ways for kiddos to have fun this holiday season.
And if you’re ok with a bit of sugar, mama, there are of course lots of places to decorate gingerbread houses (or pick some up to DIY at home!). Read on for all the deets!
For the next two weekends in December (15-16 and 22-23), Tanglin Mall will have a fun kids’ crafting corner for families who spend a minimum of $30 (easy to do when you’ve got some of our very favourite toy stores and mama shops under one roof!). Geared toward ages 5 to 12, each workshop is limited to 20 participants so be sure to arrive early, mama! And while you’re there, you’ll of course want to see Santa for a photo op and storytime, and older kiddos will definitely want to catch the nightly avalanche if they haven’t already!

There will be all sorts of drop-in fun happening at The Artground every weekend in December, including storytelling, movement sessions, and games, but on the crafting front, kiddos can look forward to making their own snow shaker ornaments on 15 and 16 December (ages 3 and up), then making Christmas slime and crafting their own Christmas stockings on 21 and 22 December.

In addition to a carousel (including special wheelchair-accessible seats) and Santa meet-and-greets, the Christmas Village at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza is offering free arts & crafts activities for kiddos at the Santa House.

Get set for interactive activities like decorative ornament-making workshops, Christmas carolling, and a cool augmented reality experience (minimum spend $50) at Great World City this holiday season. Workshops will be happening on 16 and 23 December , and are geared toward kids ages 5 to 12. Be sure to pre-register at the Information Counter on Level 2; maximum 20 participants.

Embrace your inner Hansel and Gretel and prepare to explore a life-sized Gingerbread house! Standing at almost four metres high, the Gingerbread Christmas Set in the habitat by honestbee space will be hard to miss! Families can also take home their own set for just $15, including a gingerbread cookie, Christmas-themed drink, honestbee plushie, festive gift tag and festive wrapping paper. Kiddos can also attend a free Reindeer Cork Making workshop, where they can upcycle old wine corks into a new plaything!

If you’ve got a budding foodie on your hands, sign ‘em up for this fun 3.5-hour Christmas Cookies workshop on 20 December. The class is for adults, but kids ages 12 and up are welcome; they’ll learn how to make traditional German spice cookies and chewy candied orange cookies, as well as techniques to flavour and colour royal icing, and bake the cookies to achieve just the right level of chewiness. YUM!

Gingerbread & Crafts at Shangri-La Singapore
This weekend is kiddos’ last chance to decorate their own gingerbread house with the Shangri-La’s Area Executive Pasty Chef (expect lots of frosting, cookies, and candy!), but throughout December there’s lots of hands-on holiday fun happening at Buds by Shangri-La, where kids can make their own Christmas ornament (chargeable at $10 per person). Until December 31st, children are also invited to write down their “Best Moments of 2018” on a paper ornament to hang on Buds’ enchanted tree for a chance to win a 1-night stay at Shangri-La, Singapore and Buds vouchers!
Gingerbread workshop will be held at the Garden Terrace, 15-16 December, 11am to 12:30pm and 3pm to 4:30 pm. Cost is $128 per child (ages 3 to 12) and up to 2 accompanying adults (additional adults $30 each).
