Timeless Tales is a wonderful multicultural community theatre initiative that puts on kid-friendly plays. Find out more about this unique production, plus how you and your family can get involved!

This past January my family was  enthralled by a wonderful Family Theatre Fest entitled “Timeless Tales” held at the Goodman Arts Centre. Even if you missed it, fret not because Directors Anindita Ghosh and Shalima Motial, both women entrepreneurs with a keen passion for the arts, are busy planning their next theatrical extravaganza!

The Timeless Tales Family Theatre Fest held earlier this year featured a splendid multi-ethnic 50-member cast and crew comprised of 16 nationalities – including Singaporean, British, Australian, French, Italian, Irish, Spanish, American, South African, Taiwanese, American, Korean, Pakistani, Chinese, Indian and Malay – and had talented performers handpicked from across Singapore’s reputed theatre groups and acting schools.

It was a true celebration of art, talent, diversity and integration in the spirit of cosmopolitan Singapore. The short tales were engrossing enough for kids (ages 5+) and adults alike, and made a great evening out for the family.

The chosen theme was very apt, too. The show comprised 7 Timeless Tales retold with Contemporary Twists through short plays. Ranging from English Classics, Indian Epics, and Fairy Tales, to Shakespeare and all-time Hollywood hits, the tales spanned comedies, musicals, corporate drama, social mirrors, inspirational tales, mythology and more.

Entertaining and inspiring, these tales addressed pertinent topics like women’s empowerment, social media addiction, diversity & inclusion, family relationships, love & trust, compassion for the under-privileged, and corporate drama so there was really something for everyone! It was hours well spent with the family!

How to get involved with the next Timeless Tales production

And now for the best part, mamas: the talented ladies behind Timeless Tales, Anindita and Shalima, are busy gearing up for their next big “Timeless Tales” show scheduled for 13-16 Feb 2020.

All artists aspiring to participate in the multi-ethnic theatre festival in any capacity may reach out to Anindita at [email protected] and Shalima by email at [email protected].

Timeless Tales is also calling for original scripts, directors and production managers until July 15, 2019.

Actors (including adults and kids) are welcome to audition anytime through August 2019.

Is next year too long to wait? In the meantime mark your September calendars for Rhythm – an International Dance Festival featuring dance forms of 10 countries: Brazilian Samba, Cuban ChaCha, Spanish Flamenco, Korean Pop, Arabian Bellydance, Indian classical fusion, Thai contemporary, Sri Lankan Kandyan, Chinese classical and American Jazz. Tickets are already available so grab yours now!

Don’t miss this chance for you or one of your family members to shine, mamas!
