Already-fab East Coast Park cycling paths get an upgrade with the new East Coast Cyclist Park featuring beginner and expert bike tracks, and a nature playgarden right next to P.S Cafe by the Sea!

Looking for something fun to do with the kids over the Chinese New Year long weekend? We’ve just checked out the new 5.4-hectare East Coast Park Cyclist Park and it’s super fun for all bicycle skill levels — from little ones with training wheels all the way to cycling pros.

In addition to the cool and challenging new cycling paths, the Cyclist Park also features a lovely nature playgarden complete with mini obstacle course — perfect for keeping little ones occupied even if they’re too small to ride a bike. And of course there’s also the new P.S Café by the Sea for a kid-friendly East Coast brunch so your fam can make a whole day of it!

New Cycling Paths at East Coast Cyclist Park

There are two main circuits at the East Coast cycling path: The Advanced Circuit is a 500-metre long circuit that challenges cycling enthusiasts with undulating tracks, such as the Pump Track (pictured at the top), an undulating bridge (Wave Bridge), narrow bridge, zig-zag columns and more. Depending how comfortable your kiddo is on a bike, these are all fairly kid-friendly as we’ve seen littlies as young as 3 or 4 managing the bumpy track.

The Learner Circuit is a 280-metre long circuit of gentle slopes, flat areas, and a mini BMX adventure trail to help improve balance and stamina. There are also free play zones which have a flat terrain, are perfect especially for younger kids who are just learning to cycle.

Kiddos will love the new nature playgarden at East Coast Park within the Cyclist Park. Similar to the HortPark playgarden and playgarden at Lakeside, the play area is designed to connect us more to nature and uses natural materials such as upcycled wood to encourage play.

Balance on wooden stumps, try out the simple obstacle course, or have a go on the 1.5-metre tall mini climbing wall installed with grips, fashioned from a log.

Where to Eat at the East Coast Park Cyclist Park

PS. Cafe by the Sea is on hand for coffees from 9:30am or brunch (no reservations on weekends so get there early!), with a wonderful beachy feel of floor-to-ceiling windows and stellar water views. Being on the East Coast, there’s an emphasis on seafood (including new and exclusive dishes like Chargrilled Octopus and Chili Crab & Prawn). Look out for the dedicated kids’ menu for children under 12, with kid-friendly faves like Spaghetti Bolognese, Grilled Ham & Cheese Toasties, and a Mini Pancake Stack, all priced from $12-$14 and including a free bowl of soft serve ice cream.

If you are looking for halal cuisine check out nearby KNS Restaurant or load up on snacks at the 7-11 next door. There’s also the Wake Park which is a 10-minute walk (and a shorter bicycle ride!) for lunch or ice cream, and if you’ve worked up an appetite you can’t go wrong with East Coast Lagoon Food Village!
