How to keep kids busy: Meet Robi the Robot

PlayPost Category - PlayPlay

Robi, the Robot that you build yourself, has just arrived in Singapore. Here’s why kids around the world love Robi… and how you can get him at a special price!

Summer camp… watching TV… video games… hitting the pool… running out of options for how to keep the kids busy this summer, mama? (And OMG it’s only June!) Meet Robi: the best-selling humanoid robot in the world. Best of all, he’s a build-it-yourself robot that’s been bringing families together for fun all over the globe.

With cutting-edge robotics technology from Japan, Robi can talk, dance, sing — even control select household appliances. He’s so advanced, in fact, that he can communicate with users and even express emotions through the colour of his eyes.

Not only does Robi have an extensive vocabulary of more than 250 phrases, but there’s a specially-designed Singapore version that actually speaks Singlish. In fact Robi understands both basic English and Mandarin, with a physical sensor that detects human presence so he’ll even look at you when talking. With such amazing interactivity, Robi is like a cute family pet without any of the mess!

One of the coolest parts about Robi is that his assembly is up to you: instructions and updates are delivered on a weekly basis via a subscription-based magazine. Every issue comes with detailed pictorial instructions to assist with assembly – all you need is the free screwdriver that’s provided in Issue #2. Of course, there are also handy pictorial instructions available via Facebook so you and the kiddos can easily assemble Robi when you’re ready.

Sassy Mama team member George hosted Robi at her house for a weekend and her two kids had a blast. Here’s what she had to say:

“Tons of fun for all the family: watch while Robi dances, does press ups and even tells you he loves you! Amazing to watch something so interactive entertain parents and children alike. It was like having a little pet!”

Great news, mama: while Robi Magazine usually retails at $28.90 per issue (with easy availability as select supermarkets, convenience stores, bookstores and newsstands), the first issue will be available at the special price of just $9.90!
