Mama’s Day Out: Makeover with Samina Malik & Click-oh! Photography

“I prefer to sleep in rather than put on makeup”, said 27-year-old preschool teacher and mama of three, Denise Yong, as Samina Malik applied her eye shadow at the Benefit Cosmetics store in Westgate Plaza.

Denise was the winner of Sassy Mama’s giveaway for a makeover and cosmetics shopping trip with Samina, along with a $250 product voucher from Benefit. She’d entered the contest on a day when she felt particularly tired and down (all mamas have been there!).

“Denise’s entry really resonated with me”, said Samina, “I wanted to uplift her and change her outlook to positivity, in the same way discovering cosmetics and makeovers did for me”.

To a soundtrack of upbeat music from Katy Perry and Nikki Minaj, amidst the peppy pink surrounds of the Benefit boutique, Samina showed Denise how to apply makeup, all the while pointing out which products best suited her skin type (“I want to buy everything!” Denise proclaimed after seeing the final result).

Samina began by showing Denise how to achieve a simple “Day” look that evened out her skin tone and brought out her eyes a bit more, then followed up with a more dramatic “Night” look that seemed to completely transform her. As she gazed in the mirror to scope her new self, Denise beamed in slight amazement. It’s moments like this that make Samina’s job such a pleasure.

After Benefit, the pair headed over to Inglot at Wisma Atria, where Denise picked up some punchy lipglosses and eye shadows to further complement her dazzling night look.
