#MakeItHappen in the Lion City for International Women’s Day

Family LifePost Category - Family LifeFamily Life

Guess what, mamas? 8 March is International Women’s Day, which means it’s time to come together to celebrate the achievements our female peers have made socially, economically and politically while calling for greater equality! Who run the world? Girls!

On International Women’s Day, it’s important to not only celebrate the inspiring work of women around the world but also reflect on all the work that remains, the numerous women whose voices still go unheard and the girls who are excluded from realising their full potential. As mums, we understand our role in helping cultivate tomorrow’s bright thinkers and action-takers, so now more than ever we must teach our little ones to celebrate and fight for gender equality so they get to grow up and work in more fair and tolerant societies.

This year, the official theme for International Women’s Day is “Make It Happen”, aimed at recognizing female achievement and encouraging female advancement in societies around the world. UN Women will also be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action, commemorating the moment over 37,000 participants gathered for the 4th World Conference on Women.

Want to join this amazing global conversation, mama? Simply keep up to date with International Women’s Day on their Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, LinkedIn and Pinterest accounts or track these hashtags on your social media platforms:

  • #MakeItHappen
  • #womensday
  • #IWD2015

And that’s not all! There’s plenty happening right here in Singapore to celebrate the fierce and fabulous ladies of the Lion City. So get your diaries out, mamas, and get ready to bring the family down for some entertaining and empowering fun!
