Ladies Night Circuit Class – we try this fitness class in the CBD!

You’re at the end of a long hard day slogging it out over sippy cups and playground politics, when all you want to do is curl up on the couch with a cup of tea and a good book… or so you thought. Instead of turning into a couch potato you pop on your trainers and make your way to the CBD for a bit of fitness fun with some other ladies. Sound good? We thought so, and on a recent rainy Wednesday evening we found ourselves doing exactly that at Radiance PhysioFit with their Ladies Night Circuit class.

First thing’s first – this is not a class just for mamas, it’s for all ladies, and with a smaller than average class size (18 participants at the most) the group is warm and welcoming, the atmosphere buzzing with chit chat and end-of-the-day catch ups. Held in the start of the art upstairs gym at Radiance PhysioFit, the class is supervised by two friendly trainers who guide women through a series of cardio-based circuit exercises (first 15 to 20 minutes) before moving onto resistance-based circuit exercises and then stretching at the end.

Designed to keep you moving and sweating, with a healthy dose of interval training, there’s no chance you’ll get bored here – variety is the name of the game after all! We huffed and puffed our way through jumping squats, walking lunges, ladder running, backward jogging, side steps, and loads of “core” exercises until we were sore, sweaty, and satisfied! You do have control over your own intensity and are free to dial it down a notch if any exercise is too intense, but the trainers are also more than happy to demonstrate modifications if an exercise is a bit tough. The biggest motivation we found to keep us going was being in a group and the feeling of wanting to keep up (trust us, the group is really lovely, so there’s a lot of laughing that happens between sets!).

After the workout, we were pretty tired (admittedly we’re not as conditioned as we used to be pre-kids) but still walked out with a bit of a buzz! If you need a moment to regroup you’re more than welcome to use the gym’s showers afterwards – and at least that way you wobble out of the gym looking half way presentable. There’s even a super cute health café on site should you need to fuel up before you head home!

Women’s only group exercise, in brand new surrounds, with energetic trainers — this is one ladies night we know we’ll return too in the very near future!

Ladies Night Circuit is held every Wednesday evening at 7pm and costs $20 per session. You don’t need to be a member of the centre to join you just need to call in advance to reserve a spot!
