Get to know our ultimate celebrity #girlcrush, Jennifer Aniston!

We’re still freaking out a bit as we got the opportunity for an exclusive interview with our favourite Friends star of all time, Jennifer Aniston. She answered our questions on all things beauty, lifestyle and even tells us which “Rachel” hairstyle was her favourite.

We all fell in love with her as she graced our TV screens for ten seasons on arguably THE best sitcom of all time, Friends. We still find ourselves yelling, “PIVOT!” during rush hour as we’re making our way through the busy streets of Singapore. And we’ve definitely sworn off baby powder and leather pants. As Jennifer moved onto the silver screen, we loved her in the heartwarming Marley and Me, her hilarious role in Horrible Bosses and her critically acclaimed performance in Cake (not to mention the classic Office Space).

Not only is she one of Hollywood’s most talented actresses, she is involved with numerous meaningful causes and is the face of some of our favourite beauty products, like Living Proof and Aveeno. It really comes as no surprise to us because, we’ve been asking for the “Rachel” hair cut for years…#beautygoals. Jennifer spills her secrets to keeping that famous ageless look that we all covet…

How much water do you drink each day and do you have any tips for us girls who struggle with increasing water intake. Some of us at Sassy HQ are loyal coffee and wine drinkers and need inventive ways to introduce more water into our lives!
I make myself drink 80 oz of water a day and I think the key is to have a bottle of water with you all the time. I wake up with a bottle of water next to my bed, I have water in my car, I have water everywhere!

Many of us in Asia find it difficult to maintain a healthy work/life balance with the demands from work, family and other areas pulling us in all sorts of directions. What rituals have you built into your day to stay centred? What are some of your tips on balancing work, true rest and wellness?
Well you have to carve the time out, I think it’s about making that as important as taking your car into the shop to get a tune up. You have to make the time for your own personal self, whether that’s waking up and doing 20 minutes of meditation or making sure you get a good half an hour of exercise of some sort to get yourself ready for the day.

13 Questions with one of our “Friends”: Jennifer Aniston

Asia is notorious for its humidity. What would be your go-to hair tip for busy girls on the go who are welcomed by a sea of humidity when stepping out of their home each day?
Well, Living Proof’s No Frizz line is really amazing for that. I first tried the collection on the set of a movie I was filming down in Wilmington, North Carolina where there was maybe 100% humidity. I thought this would be the perfect test to see if the products actually lived up to their claims, and they did. I couldn’t believe it; it was the most wonderful experience. My hair stayed smooth so easily.

If you only had 15 minutes to get ready in the morning – what would be your go to skincare and make up products for the day?
I’ll wash my face with just soap and water, use AVEENO Daily Moisturising lotion and I’d have the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap Overnight Protector in from the night before so I’d just use Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo in my hair.

With the overwhelming pressures young girls face these days of having to perfect an unrealistic look they often see in media – how would you define true beauty to them?
I think people need to realise that it’s unrealistic and that you need to be you and not pay attention to that. It’s so important to do what make you feel beautiful and not try to be something outside of yourself but to just be yourself.

13 Questions with one of our “Friends”: Jennifer Aniston

At Sassy HQ, we have such different tastes in television and film – from binge watching Netflix original series to reality TV! Although our tastes in television differ – we can all agree that Friends is our absolute favourite sitcom. What’s your favourite TV show you’re watching at the moment?
To be honest, I’m watching The People vs. O.J Simpson and it’s got me hooked.

We have to ask, what was your favourite hairstyle that Rachel donned throughout all the seasons?
I’d have to say Season 5, I loved the long hair.

You’ve had and continue to have such a prolific and varied career from your comedic role in Friends, to transitioning to serious movie roles like Cake. How do you choose your roles and as such an established artist, is there an arena or genre that you would want to explore next that you haven’t already?
I choose roles where I feel a connection to the character. There was a time in my career where I never would have been asked to do a movie like Cake, and I think that’s because I wasn’t ready to do it. I think as I’ve gotten older, I’ve gotten bolder in my choices. I’d love to try a thriller genre; I’ve always been intrigued by them.

What are your best tips for ageing wisely?
Embrace it. Eat well, sleep well, drink tons of water and take care of your skin. Always be sure to wear sunscreen.

13 Questions with one of our “Friends”: Jennifer Aniston

Which other actress do you admire most and why? What are some qualities in this person that you respect and appreciate?
There are so many actresses I admire. I think Jennifer Lawrence is extraordinary, I find her just mesmerising. I also admire Amy Schumer and Cate Blanchett. Cate is gorgeous and you could watch her forever. I just love women that are strong and are not afraid to play a character, flattering or not.

What would we find you doing on a typical Friday night?
I love the weekends so I’ll start it off by gathering with some friends for a nice dinner.

Comfort food – we all love it! What would you say is your favourite cheat dish for those indulgent days?
It goes between a gorgeous bowl of pasta and a wonderful Mexican meal.

And finally, how would you define what makes a woman sassy?
I think someone who is fun and confident in themselves. You have to have a sense of humour and not take yourself too seriously.
