The Best Healthy Restaurants in Singapore: Vegetarian, vegan or organic eats that are kid-friendly!

EatPost Category - EatEat - Post Category - Eating OutEating Out - Post Category - Family FriendlyFamily Friendly

healthyrestaurantssingaporeWe’ve all got the best of intentions when it comes to healthy eating — especially as mamas who watch like hawks what our little ones put in their mouths (although strangely a fair amount of cake and ice cream seems to slip in!). Eating out is one time when it’s difficult to find healthy options though; after all, if everyone around you is chowing down on a burger, it seems a bit sad to munch on a salad! Our solution? Book in the fam at a healthy (perhaps vegan or vegetarian) restaurant, so you’re practically forced to make good choices. Thankfully Singapore is bursting at the seams with great options, and here are our top picks that littl’uns will love too!

779 Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 269758
Tel: (+65) 6762 8029

This bright and airy Bukit Timah Cafe is a one-stop shop when it comes to healthy living — browse their bookstore, pick up some nutritious ingredients to practice with at home, sign up for some meditation or detoxing classes, and last of all, sit down to a yummy meal with the kids! There’s a fab kids’ menu filled with things they won’t even know are good for them (wholewheat pizza for everybody!) and mama can sip on a delicious smoothie or even indulge in some raw chocolate. We love their range of chilled, raw soups which are perfect for cooling you down, and extra bonus, their coffee’s not at all bad!
Open daily 8.30am – 7pm

Locations all over Singapore

Yes, it’s a chain, and you might be forgiven for thinking it’s all about their delicious breads and cakes, but sit down with the kiddies and discover there’s so much more to Cedele! Packed with healthy veggie-packed options, we can’t get enough of their tofu dishes, and little ones will love the stir-fried rice made with brown rice. If you’re looking for a quick pit-stop while out and about, you should definitely hit up this family-friendly Singapore fave. The only downside? Service can be really patchy.
Opening hours depend on location.

460 Alexandra Road, #01-32 Alexandra Retail Centre, Singapore 119963
Tel: (+65) 6270 2012

It might have a slightly strange location in a little mall at the end of Alexandra Road, but Onaka is an absolute diamond in the rough. Head there for lunch or brunch with the littlies (or without them!) and sip on a fresh coconut juice, or enjoy a herbal tea and munch on one of their fabulously creative inventions, like “bacon” made from aubergine, or watermelon sashimi. For committed carnivores, don’t worry, meat and fish are available on the menu. Everything tastes fresh and bursting with flavour — well worth the trip!
Open Monday – Friday 11am – 10pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am – 10pm

43 Jalan Merah Saga, #01-62, Holland Village, Singapore
Tel: (+65) 6475 5605

This Chip Bee Gardens Meditteranean veggie resto is a real family fave. You’ll feel as though you’ve been transported to Italy or Greece as you dine al fresco on the terrace, watch the kids tuck into their own pasta with broccoli and treat yourself to a fresh and tasty falafel salad. We absolutely guarantee you, this is one place where no one will even miss the meat. Staff are super-friendly and welcoming to kids, even when they make a big mess!
Daily 11.30am – 2.30pm for lunch, 6pm – 10.30pm for dinner

Poison Ivy

100 Neo Tiew Road, Kranji, Singapore  719026
Tel: (+65) 6898 5001

This quirky little bistro is located at Bollywood Veggies, an organic farm out in Kranji — and it’s a schlep, let us tell you mamas! Plan your visit ahead so you’ve got time to wander around the farm with the kiddos, take part in some of the activities on offer (calling ahead to make sure you’re expected and get the scoop on what’s on is a good idea). The bistro itself serves up farm-fresh organic produce in its infinite variety, and is more of a ‘whatever the chef feels like cooking on the day’-type deal. Some dishes are spicy, all are finger-licking good!
Open for lunch only, Wednesday to Sunday

Real Food
110 Killiney Road, Tai Wah Building, Singapore 239549
Tel: (+65) 6737 9516

With several outlets spread around the island, our faves to hit up with the fam are most def the Killiney branch (light, airy and gorge — make a res if you’re going on a weekend) and The Central’s basement but convenient locale. With a strictly vegetarian menu and run by a passionate team who truly believe that we are what we eat, there are definitely some items on the menu that less-than-committed health nuts might raise an eyebrow at. They run kids’ cooking classes, and stock more-ish dehydrated kale chips. They don’t have a kids’ menu as such, but they dish up pasta and have highchairs, so they cover all our bases!
Open Monday – Saturday 10am – 8.45pm, Sunday 10am – 7.45pm

VeganBurg
Various locations, including The Grandstand

We love this home-grown fast food done healthy concept where you can request “broccoli with that” instead of fries — hurrah! While we can’t pretend we think the burgers are the most delish thing ever, we’re big admirers of their super-creative menu (especially the Sassy Relish – ha!) and when we’re on the run and want to pick up something healthy to fill up little tums, it’s a fab option especially for those with dairy or egg allergies as everything is totally dairy and egg free.
Opening hours vary at different outlets
