A new space for handy dads & DIY warriors, plus a Fathers Day giveaway

With Fathers Day just around the corner (21 June, in case you were wondering), is anyone else beginning to freak out just a bit about finding the perfect gift? For those of you with partners who approach the hardware store like a kid in a candy shop, we’ve got some great news! The stalwarts at Home-Fix have just launched a super-cool new collaborative platform called XPC for those DIY warriors who like to Learn, Make & Design. They’ll be offering a slew of family-friendly home maintenance, woodworking and craft workshops, and Sassy Mama is giving away ten parent-child workshops to lucky dads this Father’s Day!

Valued at $70, the 3-hour workshop will teach dads and kids how to make a lamp. The workshop covers everything from woodworking to basic electrical wiring, and at the end dads and kids will have their very own lamp to bring home! It’s father-child bonding, home improvement skills, and some light furniture shopping all rolled into one (and maybe you’ll even get some bonus alone time, mama!).

All materials are provided, and XPC’s home improvement experts will lead the class in their awesome workshop facility. By the way, dads can always swing by to ulitise the space and its full complement of wookworking tools (they’ve even got 3D printers!), with future plans for metal working, plastic forming equipment and laser cutting machines. There are plenty of trained technicians on site (they’re even trained in first aid, whew!), so no worries if your hubby’s less handy and more klutzy.
