Launching in August 2016, SMART English Junior is an intensive Monday to Friday programme geared toward 11-to-14-year-olds. Whilst building up a solid foundation level of English, students will also develop academic skills useful for entry exams and for preparing for life at an international school. All the while they’ll be boosting their confidence while learning to communicate effectively in English with teachers and classmates.

With student-centered classes and team-based project work, the course will focus on four key skill areas:

  • Listening and speaking
  • Reading and writing
  • Improving vocabulary and grammar and
  • Academic and critical thinking skills

At the end of each week students will also take quizzes to monitor their progress and ensure they’re on track. At the end of the 12-week course they’ll take a British Council-developed APTIS assessment test, which an increasing number of international schools are using as an entry test. Once a student has completed a level (there are three levels in all), they’ll even receive an APTIS Certificate and academic report that can help support their application. British Council’s experienced teachers will also provide handy exam tips throughout.
